Surrey Womens Golf

Walton Heath GC were crowned the 2026 English Women’s champion club at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club. Annabel and Emily Peaford and Jenny Justice represented Walton Heath and their two best scores on both day 1 and day 2 counted. On day 1 the weather was terrible and the team were 5 shots behind Princes GC. However on day 2 Annabel shot an excellent 71 and Emily 81 to win the competition by 5 shots. Jenny also had a great day 2 and was very close behind. A tremendous achievement the team will now go forward to represent Walton Heath in the European club championship at Hamburger Golf Club Falkenstein Germany 1-3rd Oct 2026. Congratulations to Julia Brook, Surrey player and Director of Junior Golf and a member of Walton Heath, who has been selected for the England team to play in the European Senior Women’s Team Championship at the BlackSeaRama Golf Resort in Bulgaria (1-5 September) and the Home Internationals at Royal St Davids’s in Wales (15-17 September). The junior Surrey team consisted of 6 Rookies and only 3 players who had played in the junior team previously. They played with tremendous commitment and team spirit. Excellent wins against Middlesex and Sussex but unfortunately we came just short in the match against Hampshire. Hampshire and Surrey teams were very closely matched and 3 of the matches came down to the 18th hole but unfortunately we were not able to secure a point from these matches and narrowly lost 4-3. However, the team were determined to secure a win on Wednesday morning against a very strong and experienced Kent team and against the odds they did that to win 4.5-2.5. So three teams had won threee matches and it came down to points and we came second to Kent. Our team should be very proud of their performances. Congratulations to all the teams and who gave it their all and played some beautiful golf.

As host of the event at the Drift club we were delighted at how the event went and this was due to the wonderful support we had from the Drift. The staff and facility were excellent.

Whilst the Surrey girls team was occupied at JCMW four of Surrey’s first team were competing in the R&A Amateur. After 36 holes strokeplay and the first round of matchplay Annabel is the only Surrey player left. Good luck tomorrow in match against Anuradha Chaudhuri from India.
