🔵⚫ Match Report for Cleethorpes Town Ladies U14's ⚫🔵

Let's see what their manager Matt has to say about the game 💬

"This morning, the girls stepped into new territory as we took on league leaders Retford FC. With 16 goals in their opening two games, we knew we were likely to spend periods of the game on the back foot, so the message was to absorb the early pressure and build from there.

Despite an early goal giving the hosts a confidence boost, our girls dug deep. Playing uphill, they battled hard and managed to keep the score at 1-0 for the majority of the first half. A looping effort just before the break meant we went into half-time 2-0 down, but there was still plenty to play for.

The message at half-time was simple: keep going and increase the pressure. With us playing downhill in the second half, we knew we could make things uncomfortable for Retford.

It was a physical game, but these girls will go toe-to-toe with anyone these days, and that’s exactly what they did. We gradually increased the pressure and eventually picked our way through the Retford defence, with Ham calmly slotting home to make it 2-1. Retford were rattled and suddenly, it was game on! 🔥

Both sides created chances in the second half, but for long periods Clee looked the most likely to find the next goal. Unfortunately, time wasn’t on our side and the game finished 2-1 to the hosts. Credit to Retford for staying organised and seeing the game out.

It was a fantastic game to watch and a courageous effort from our girls. They played with grit, heart and determination and really took the game to a Retford side who clearly have some top players.

It’s tough to come so close to a great result, but the girls can walk away with their heads held high. They showed exactly what they’re capable of today 💪

🏆 Player of the Match: Clara

Clara battled brilliantly at right-back and was really neat and tidy with her footwork throughout the game. A well-deserved award! 👏

Well played to every single one of the girls. Proud of you all ⚽️

Clee Town Girls U12

Let's hear from Sarah their manager...

"Another great team effort from the girls today💪⚽️
Everyone worked so hard for each other, changing positions and helping to balance the pitch as we were a little short on players today. The teamwork and determination were fantastic to see 👏

Another fantastic 2 goals from Georgie who is on fire at the moment ⚽️⚽️🔥🔥 We were all rooting for that hat-trick 🙌

Some phenomenal saves from Flo in goal today too 🧤⭐ Despite picking up an early injury, she carried on right through to the final whistle. Great determination 💪

A huge well done to all the girls who stepped up and changed positions to help the team today, with Georgia and Effie especially doing a brilliant job 👏

🏆 Players of the match - Flo, Sophie & Effie 🏆
Absolutely amazing from all three of you today! Your confidence is really shining through, and your progression with ball control and understanding of the game is coming on leaps and bounds. Strong passing, strong tackles and fantastic determination, I couldn't have asked for any more 👏⚽️

Keep that going, girls 💪🔥
This is a massive step in the right direction! The goals are coming, we're battling right until the final whistle, and the girls are showing so much fight and belief.

Well done girls 👏💪⚽️
The scoreline really doesn't do the game justice the effort, teamwork and determination you all put in today were absolutely fantastic 🔵⚫

So proud of you all! 🥰⚽️"

🔵⚫⚽ MATCH REPORT ⚽⚫🔵

Let's see what John their gaffer made of the game 💬

"Boston Colts FC Greens 2-5 Clee Town Ladies Under 14's ⚽⚫🔵

A fantastic away performance from the girls saw us come away with a 5-2 win against Boston Colts Greens.

Goals from Darcie, Elena x2, Bethany and Ava H helped secure the result, with the team showing great character after Boston fought back to 3-2 early in the second half.

A brilliant all-round effort, especially with a few players returning from illness and some injuries forcing changes during the game. The girls adapted superbly and finished strongly.

🏆 Parents’ Player: Georgia S
🏆 Coaches’ Player: Savannah

Credit to Boston for a competitive game played in great spirit.

Well done girls, three points and plenty of positives to take forward🦉⚽"

🎙️ Words from Matt, our U14's Tilletts Manager ⚽️

"Yesterday, we came up against a Greenbank side who we last faced and were defeated by in last season’s County Cup Semi-Final.

The challenge we set the girls was simple: set the tone from the very start and bring together all the positives we’d seen from them in bits and pieces during our first two league games.

The game started evenly, with both teams creating chances and really embracing the physical side of U14's grassroots football. It was end-to-end stuff, and although Greenbank created some good opportunities, our organised defending kept them at bay.

It was Charlotte who broke the deadlock in the latter stages of the first half, before adding a second just before the break. We were absolutely delighted with the performance so far 👏

With the wind behind us in the second half, we really started to click into gear and put the Greenbank defence under pressure.

Charlotte completed her hat-trick early in the second half before adding a fourth shortly afterwards. The determination she showed was brilliant 🔥⚽️

It wasn’t long before Daisy added another, scoring her first of the day. We then pushed Alyssa into a more attacking role and she embraced the challenge immediately, picking up the ball, weaving her way through the Greenbank defence and calmly finishing into the bottom corner 👌⚽️

Daisy then added her second with a fantastic curved effort into the far corner, before our final goal of the day came from Isla. Playing in defence, she surged forward with confidence, battled her way through the back four and slotted the ball home 💪⚽️

🏆 Player of the Match - Millie 🏆

It was a tough game to select Player of the Match, but today Millie thoroughly deserved to take home the trophy.

She stepped into her defensive midfield role with confidence. Barely anything got past her, and she constantly looked to win the ball and get us moving forward. A fantastic performance, Millie 👏

It was a shame that a late lapse in organisation allowed Greenbank to grab a goal, but overall we were absolutely delighted with the 8-1 victory and the performance of every single player 👏

A fantastic squad performance from start to finish 🔥

Next week, we look forward to making the trip over to Retford, who are undefeated so far this season "
