🗣️ Owen Hargreaves: “Listen, I watched that game and I’m genuinely gutted Manchester United aren’t walking away with three points.

You go from 6 points out of 9 looking very possible to 4 out of 9 in a matter of seconds. That’s the frustrating part.

I saw Šeško after he scored. He looked like a player who genuinely believed that goal had won the game. And honestly, at that moment, I thought it had.

Then you look at the reaction afterwards. Šeško is gutted, Carrick is gutted, the whole team looks like they can’t believe what has happened.

That’s the impact of poor game management and, for me, questionable substitutions.

You can debate Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford all you want, but once those two came off, the game started shifting towards Everton. United lost some control and suddenly Everton had belief.

Manchester United deserved the three points today. They played well enough to win it.

But at this level, you cannot afford moments of negligence, especially in the final minutes.

The players have to learn how to close games.

Because scoring the winner isn’t enough if you can’t protect it.”

🗣️ “ When I was at Man United, scoring against Everton became a tradition for me (laughs)

And now Šeško has done two games, two goals. I’m looking at this thinking, ‘Okay… the tradition has been passed on.’ (laughs)

But honestly, I love it. United need a striker who looks at certain opponents and thinks, ‘I’m scoring today.’ Šeško already seems to have that mentality.

So I’ll tell him this: Everton was my garden. Now it’s yours.

Keep scoring against them, keep scoring for United, and maybe one day the fans will forget I ever had the record.

I’m happy for him. If he’s the one carrying that tradition now, I’ll happily pass him the keys.”
