MATCH REPORT AND PICS FOR 1ST TEAM vs University of East Anglia Men's Football Team RES IN THE NORFOLK JUNIOR CUP 19/9/26

So we hosted UEA Res in the 1st round of the county cup. With a few missing but more than enough available the Gaffer had a hard choice but picked what he thought was best for the game.
With us having a great pre season and good start to the league wee set up, had a good warm up and chat and prepared for the game.
We started brightly and within 10 mins had the ball in the back of the net only for it to be ruled out for off-side but the lads dug deep and continued to battle and get ahold of the game. On about 20 mins we did score. Charlie.A put in a great corner for 1 of our other Charlie's, Charlie.O to head home bar and in 👊🏻💪🏻.
AFC 1-0 UEA
The half continued with both teams just lacking that cutting edge and the score remained the same until the break.
The Gaffer remained positive, retold the lads what their duties were and how we need to do certain things to win, made couple changes and sent the lads back out.
This seemed to work a treat as 5 mins after the restart x2 of our players that just come on linked up a beautifully. With us playing out from the back the ball got played to Tom who flicked it through for Jonas who ran onto and lobbed the oncoming GK from around 25 yards out.
AFC 2-0 UEA
Now we had a bit more control and looked to press on but for x2 reasons stopping us. 1st we just couldn't break a stubborn UEA who held out well and tried to expose us with their pace and 2nd some poor finishing with Charlie.A and Tom having big chances they could of both had a couple each. The game continued to go back and forth with neither team taking full control and dictating the play and with the minutes running down we knew all we needed to do was hold out but UEA kept pushing and about 20 mins from the end, Will made a goal defying block to deny UEA a way back into the game. The block was as crucial as a goal in these moments in the game and this is the things that the lads have started to learn and understand that defending as a team is crucial in these defining moments. We had another opportunity in the dying moments after some great footy by the lads Charlie.A played a deadly ball across the box only for Tom to miss hit the ball and instead of hitting the net from 8/10 yards, he took out a kid on a swing 60 yards away 🤦🏻‍♂️🙈👀🚑🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Final score: AFC 2-0 UEA
Goal Scorers were Charlie.O & Jonas
M.O.M was Will again with back to back M.O.M's. Honestly solid game, keeping the back line controlled in crucial moments and added the physicality that we needed for the game.
Unlucky to UEA and best of luck for the season lads 💪🏻👊🏻.

So we progress into the next round and there's even better news..........
WE GET A BYE INTO ROUND 3 🙏🏻💪🏻👊🏻💙.
We were drawn against Thetford Town u23 in round 2 but unfortunately they folded so we get a bye into the next round without kicking a ball.
We want to thank everyone that came and supported the lads it was great to see the football family come out 💙.
And best of luck to Belton FC Res and Shrublands FC Res who face eachother this weekend in the Norfolk Intermediate Cup. May the best team win lads ⚽️👊🏻.

So the 1st Team continue their good start but face a very tough next x3 games against teams that will be competing for silverware come the end of the year, starting this weekend in the league against current league champions Carlton Colville Town F.C. Crown.
The Devs are also back in action after a week off with a rearranged fixture after Turnstones couldn't raise a side vs Pakefield FC 1st in the league.
Both teams are at home, Mill Lane and both have a 2pm KO.

The 1st Team progress into the next round with a hard fought 2-0 win against a decent University of East Anglia Men's Football Team Res.
We made hard work of it considering how we have been playing but the most important thing is we are in the next round of the Junior Cup and in high spirits. Thank you to all that come along and supported us today was great to see.

MATCH REPORT FOR DEVS vs Kessingland FC

1st Team vs Mutford & Wrentham:
So after a tough opening game we travelled over to face a Mutford & Wrentham side who are rebuilding as a club but only narrowly lost to last seasons league champions 4-2 the previous week so another tough task ahead and with Regan banned, Charlie.W, Leighton, Lilly, Pidge and couple others all unavailable and Louis.W along with new signing Dylan playing for the Devs this was a task made harder but we had a very good squad to take and this is where we are stronger this year in quality & strength in depth.The Gaffer set the lads up and told them his plans. The lads had a good warm up and looked ahead to the task ahead.
We started strongly and within minutes was on the attack creating problems with our pace, fitness and the way way we play. It was lovely to watch and finally see that all the hard work we have put in throughout the club is now starting to show. We should of been a few up but we wasn't critical enough at times and the Mutford GK pulled of some fine saves but we went in ahead but should of been more.
HT: AFC 3-0 MUTFORD & WRENTHAM
The Gaffer spoke to the lads about being ruthless and needing more goals but also to carry on controlling the game. He made couple changes, reminded the lads we can't let up and that Mutford had some good players and they a top side so can't sit back.
2nd half kicked off and it was exactly the same we controlled every bit of the game and stayed on top for the full 90 mins playing some of the best football we have seen at the club. Jonas made his comeback and linked up well with the lads but every single player put a shift in, done the task that was set upon them and controlled the game fully. We scored another x2 to complete the scoring with x5 different goal scorers which is fantastic as shows we got goals throughout ⚽️💙💪🏻👊🏻.
Final score: AFC 5-0 MUTFORD & WRENTHAM
Goal scorers were Charlie.A, Di, Henry, Jack & Jonas
M.O.M went to Di & Will who both played unreal but shout out to GK Chris, Charlie.A, Dainty, Duarte and Jay who all had solid games.
Will definitely had pass of the game after he assisted Henry's goal to put us 1-0 up with an unreal pass that cut through the Mutford defence for Henry to run onto and slot home 💪🏻👊🏻.
Each player should be proud as punch as that was an unreal performance and showed what a team we are. We controlled the game from start to finish, played unreal football and looked positive. Only bit of criticism is that we need to be more aggressive, clinical & ruthless in front of goal but other than that a perfect performance by the lads 💙💪🏻👊🏻.

Devs vs Kessingland:
So the Devs hosted a very good and 1 of the sides considered league favourites Kessingland FC. We played these pre season with a mixed XI and lost 4-2 so we knew this was gunna be a hard task ahead for the Devs.
With no GK again the Devs Club Captain Cal Walker stepped in the sticks and took responsibility. It was an entertaining 1st half with both sides creating a number of chances and looking like if this continued it could be anyone's game come full time. Early into the game young Declan Scanlon who was making his club debut rolled and twisted his ankle and had to substituted. Hopefully its not long term and he makes a speedy recovery. Young Harry Bullent came on for him making his league debut and he scored to put the Devs 1-0 up. Kessingland pulled 1 back then another new signing making his club debut scored, Dylan Pattle showing that he will add quality to both squads. Kessingland responded with a reply then took the lead before the break.
HT: AFC 2-3 KESSINGLAND
With us only a goal behind we looked positive for the 2nd half, unfortunately it didn't go that way at all for us. Kessingland came out all guns blazing and scored another x5 goals with no reply.
Final score: AFC DEVS 2-8 KESSINGLAND
Goal scorers were Dylan & Harry
M.O.M was Harry who after coming on had a great game and showed talent and bravery for his age.

So another mixed weekend for the club with the 1st Team lads having a massive away win and showing good signs of what we have been working on is working and the Devs taking a heavy home loss but with players returning from injury and the new lads to add in we should hopefully turn a corner soon 💪🏻👊🏻.
Wally of the week went to the Gaffer Pasco who come on and had a hole in his foot on the 1st pass and got booked for kicking the ball away albeit was only couple yards. Absolute numpty 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 so that's a club fine for getting booked and wally of week 💷💰.

The Devs have no game this weekend as they get a bye into the next round of the Norfolk Primary Cup 💪🏻, but........👀👀👀👀
The 1st Team lads have a game at home, Mill Lane, 2:30pm KO in the Norfolk Junior Cup vs University of East Anglia Men's Football Team Res.
It would be great to see as many of you down there to support & cheer the lads on with a lot of the Devs players coming to watch but if we don't see you there hopefully we see you down the Windmill for a drink after 🍺🍻🥃.

MATCH REPORT & PICS FOR 1ST TEAM vs Shrublands FC RES & MATCH REPORT FOR DEVS vs OULTON UNITED WITH PICS TO FOLLOW 5/9/26

1st Team:
On our opening game of the season, with a great pre season behind them and in our new home kit (next seasons) sponsorsed by CMC Markets the lads was in for a tough test against a strong Shrubs team at home.
The Gaffer spoke to the lads, set his team up and told them to go do their jobs.
It was a nervey opening few mins for both sides with them both having early chances. Regan made a couple of late tackles early in and was told 1 more he is in the book then few mins later he was in the book🟨. The ref was keeping a close eye and on about 20ish mins Regan was off 🟨🟨=🟥🤦🏻‍♂️. A clumsy challenge saw Regan trip his man, landing on him and it looked like he dislocated his ankle. Wasn't a bad tackle but because of the clumsiness of it and his previous couple leading to his booking the ref showed him a 2nd yellow and was gone.
Now this was a massive task for the lads but they were ready for the challenge ahead. Both teams created moments but it was so stop start. Charlie.O then pulled up and the task was made even harder but half time soon came around.
The Gaffer said what he needed to say at the break, made a positive change in bringing Lopes on for Henry and we set out with our task of being the team that scores 1st.
We created some decent chances and was playing great football and midway through the half Lopes was played through ran onto the ball and coolly slotted past the oncoming GK from around 25 yards out only for the lino to flag!! The ref went over, their was a little chat then, GOOOOOOOOAL!!
Our clubs all time top goal scorer put us ahead. Now the Gaffer got on some more fresh legs in Harley and Will and both slotted in straight away and contributed massively.
Now with about 5 mins left Shrubs hit the crossbar with an absolute thunderbolt but luck was on our side and the final whistle went 🙏🏻👊🏻💪🏻.
Final score: AFC 1-0 Shrublands
Goal scorer: Lopes
M.O.M was Charlie Adams who ran his nuts off and covered most of the pitch aswell as sitting back at times and keeping us in the game but the whole team all put in the hard work and done what was needed. From Chris in the sticks to the stickers each player showed every bit of heart they had out there and we are bloody proud of them 💙.
Unlucky to Shrublands on a hard fought battle and speedy recovery to your player. Hopefully it's not as bad as fear 🙏🏻.

Devs:
With the Devs also at home vs a strong Oulton United 1st Team side we was looking for a great weekend with both teams getting the win but this wasn't to be. The Devs was out played and outclassed in the 1st half going in 3-0 down but after some changes made by Bazza and the lads pulling together the lads come out fighting in the 2nd half and after winning a penalty late on in the game, Ollie stepped up and scored his 1st goal for the club and showing that the lads are willing to fight to the end but that they need to come out fighting from the start.
Final score: AFC 1-3 Oulton United
Goal scorer: Ollie
M.O.M was Ben who had a solid game in the middle of the pitch and tried to lead the lads 💪🏻💙.
Well done to Oulton United who deserved the win and will see you again during the season.

So a mixed weekend for the club. A great win for the 1st Team showing great grit and determination and unlucky to the Devs who will know that a bad start can make it that bit harder for you as a team but showed excellent work rate and fight in 2nd half to know that can hold their own.
We started doing "Wally of the week" and this week no doubt it was Regan 🟨🟨 🟥🤦🏻‍♂️😂. Club fine incoming along with all players who was booked 🟨.

This weekend 1st Team are away to Mutford & Wrentham Football Club with the Devs at home again vs Kessingland FC. Both 2pm KO times.

IT'S GAME DAY!!!! 💙👊🏻💪🏻⚽️

So the season begins today with both teams at home.
The 1st Team have a very tough opening fixture.in Div 1 vs local rivals Shrublands FC Res in what should be a cracking game. They will be wearing their new home kit with the club lucky enough to win x2 kits through Kitlocker 👊🏻💪🏻. A lovely Navy blue New Balance home kit and a new Nike away kit. The home kit is for next season but we have had to wear it today as Devs in the 1st Team home kit as they are awaiting their new home kit to finish at printers 🖨.
Our new away kit colour remains a surprise but it is an absolute cracker 👀👀👊🏻💪🏻🤝🏻.
The Devs kick off their season with another tough fixture in Div 2 vs Oulton United 1st in a game the lads know they have to dig deep.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible supporting the lads and a reminder that supporters have to stand behind the rope areas on the opposite side of the pitch this season.
If you can't make the game hopefully we see you down the Windmill for a drink after 🍺🍻.
