Sunday Soccer Club are pleased to announce that the following players have been selected to play in the upcoming game against Moray Police Football Club.

Kickoff will be at approximately 13:00 this Sunday. The game will be played at Forest Park which is the home of Burghead Thistle F.C. Spectators are very welcome to attend and entry is free.

It was fantastic to see so many players at the session this morning. We are delighted to welcome new faces every week with even more people showing an interest in getting involved. The club continues to grow and it is great to see the enthusiasm building.

We have also got a few games being lined up over the coming months so keep an eye on our page for fixture announcements and updates.

Today, Sunday Soccer Club took part in the "Charlie Tull Legacy" football tournament, hosted by Moray Mental Health Football Club.

With so many players keen to take part, we had no option but to enter two teams. Team One competed as Sunday Soccer Club, while Team Two proudly played under the name Mind Hop, in recognition of our fantastic main sponsor.

Both teams were drawn in the same group, playing five matches each. Every group game was closely contested, with both teams producing some excellent football. The match between our two sides was particularly competitive, with plenty of chances at both ends.

Unfortunately, Sunday Soccer Club's tournament came to an end in the knockout stage, losing narrowly on penalties after leading for most of the game. A late equaliser, against the run of play, forced the shootout, where their opponents just edged it.

Meanwhile, Mind Hop progressed through the knockout rounds and against the odds, reached the semi final. Facing last year's tournament winners, they showed tremendous determination to take the game to penalties. After converting every spot kick, goalkeeper Jamie Brown produced a superb save to send Mind Hop through to the final.

The final was another closely fought contest, with both teams playing some great football. By this stage, plenty of players were beginning to feel the effects of a long day in the summer sunshine (and perhaps a few ageing legs). Mind Hop eventually came out on top, winning by a single goal to lift the trophy.

Football aside, the day was a huge success both on and off the pitch. Both teams supported one another throughout the tournament and played the game in exactly the right spirit. It's about far more than what happens within the white lines. The conversations before, between and after games all help to build friendships and create positive experiences that support mental wellbeing.

It was also fantastic to see so many family members and friends supporting both teams throughout the day. Several spectators commented on the welcoming atmosphere within the club, with some even asking how they could get involved.

The future is looking bright for Sunday Soccer Club.

Watch this space for announcements regarding the open top bus parade around Forres. The bus will be stopping at popular locations including Fleurs, Forbeshill, Knockomie, Pilmuir, etc. Thank you to Ross Milligan at Mind Hop Brewery for authorising and paying for the bus.

A fantastic impact from both players for their respective teams. Andrew was solid at the back and Jamie only let 2 goals by him in the whole tournament.

At Sunday Soccer Club we pride ourselves on valuing players who show commitment, positivity and team spirit. Andy and Jamie exemplified these values today, elevating their contributions beyond their excellent performances on the pitch.

Sunday Soccer Club are pleased to announce that the following players have been selected to play in the "Charlie Tull Legacy" football tournament hosted by Moray Mental Health Football Club.

The team lineup for Sunday Soccer has recently changed due to injury. K Glass has unfortunately withdrawn and has been replaced by P Coulby.

We hope that the event is a huge success and that everyone involved has a valuable and worthwhile experience.

Everyone at Sunday Soccer Club would like to congratulate our rock at the back Robert Lafferty (aka Bob) on somehow convincing Kayleigh to marry him. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness (and Kayleigh a lifetime of patience).

A few of the lads made it to the big day and had an unreal time. There is still an ongoing debate about how Bob managed to scrub up so well. We can only assume it was a one off performance.
