BIG NEWS

We are officially in.

Edinburgh West AFC has been accepted into the SOFFA League for the coming season.

Huge thanks to the league committee and teams for accepting our application, and for delaying the start of the season to allow us entry. That kind of support means a lot to a brand new club, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

We appreciate it, and we’re looking forward to the season ahead and some proper competitive fixtures.

Here we go, Edinburgh West.

Spare a thought for the group chat, because this one’s going to be brought up for years.

The first ever goal in Edinburgh West AFC history was scored by none other than the gaffer himself, Wis Jantarasorn.

Edinburgh West won a free kick up the pitch, expertly swung in by Jamie McMillan. And after banging on for weeks about someone attacking the back post, Wis finally took his own advice and ghosted in to get on the end of it. He’ll tell you he expertly struck it into the net. We all know it came off his shin.

Doesn’t matter. It’s in the book. History made, and hopefully many more to come.

SIGNING NEWS

Some players you sign for the future. This one’s already made history.

Introducing Jamie McMillan, an incredibly tidy midfielder, crafty and technically gifted, and the man behind the club’s first ever goal. This past weekend, on his debut, Jamie knocked a set piece into the back post for the gaffer to finish. First goal in the book, and Jamie’s name is on the assist.

Linking up again with the gaffer after a number of years apart, and it’s clear that understanding hasn’t gone anywhere.

Welcome to the club, Jamie. Looking forward to seeing what else you bring.

**Match Report: Edinburgh West FC vs. Raith Rovers Sr’s**

**Final Score:** 1–9

**Match Summary**
Edinburgh West FC took to the pitch today for the club’s very first competitive 11-a-side fixture, facing off against a seasoned and highly experienced opponent. With several squad members meeting for the first time in the changing room before kickoff—and a few making their 11-a-side debuts—the team faced a steep learning curve, but responded with remarkable spirit and determination.

**First Half**
The opening 25 minutes showcased exceptional defensive organization and discipline from Edinburgh West, frustrating the opposition and keeping the scoreline level. The opposition finally broke the deadlock in the 25th minute.

Edinburgh West fought back into the match when coach Wis made his mark on the scoresheet, arriving at the back post to convert a well-delivered free kick. By halftime, the score stood at 4–1, with Edinburgh West showing promising passages of play and stringing together clean combinations across the pitch.

**Second Half**
As the second half progressed, fatigue inevitably set in against a match-sharp opponent, leading to further goals conceded late in the game. However, the defensive highlight of the match came when Edinburgh West successfully saved a penalty to deny the opposition another goal.

**Coaches’ Reaction**
Despite the scoreline, co-coaches Jase and Wis expressed immense pride in the squad’s performance and work ethic.

* **Commitment:** Outstanding effort levels across all 90 minutes from a brand-new group of players.
* **Progress:** Excellent foundations laid, particularly during the disciplined opening half-hour.
* **Outlook:** High positivity surrounding the squad’s trajectory as the team continues to build chemistry and fitness.

Edinburgh West FC leaves its inaugural match with clear areas to build upon and total confidence that the club will grow from strength to strength in the upcoming fixtures.
