New Durham afc u8s

Whilst our Saturday team are on the end of season break our Sunday team are back to it and have started their u8 season in the Durham county FA league …..
ND vs Boldon
We started the game well created a good few chances and then they hit us with one long ball from the goalkeeper and they scored, for us to go one down was very much again the run of play in my opinion. The lads reset and started again and we managed to get to half time winning 3-2 but it could have been more the chances we were creating.
At half time I encouraged the lads to continue to be aggressive in defence and win the ball back quickly and not allow them time on the ball. I asked them to pass the ball and hold our width. Which I thought we did well at times today.
Second half again we were the better team creating the better chances. We got the first few goals in the second half to give us a comfortable lead. I was wanting the lads to try and keep the ball move it around and it sadly cost us a goal towards the end but it’s something I feel we need to keep doing to improve. We all make mistakes but we just have to learn from them and with having the lead we could afford to do that today. To finish on a positive there was some great switches of play, through balls and to be honest we could have scored a lot more on another day.

What a way to end the season.
Well done boys. At the start of the game I asked the boys to make themselves proud and go out and play the way we know we can.
They did just that. Everyone’s work rate was good today even with the heat.
Couldn’t ask more than that, well done boys.

New Durham vs Jarrow
We played some lovely passing football at times today and when we put it together created some great chances. Could have been a few more though if the final pass was made. If we hold our width more we’ll create more space and more chances going forward.
We were 2-0 up at half time and I challenged the boys to win both half’s. They went out and put the same effort and desire in as the first and won 3-1 thanks to a few good saves from Murphy.
Overall work rate was good, some nice passing, excellent finishing and we even recycled the ball well to start again.
