Kinrossie Caledonian 1 Riverside West End 13

This years Scottish Cup draw paired us up against the Perth league team Kinrossie Caledonian.
We piled on the bus and headed off to Kinross for the game which was probably the first time for most of the squad getting a taste of a proper away day experience.

We started well and could've been one up inside the 2nd minute.
Mack sliding Max in behind but his shot is wide.
We do get the opener a couple of minutes later.
Arun plays in Xander and he finishes into the corner.
0-1
Gaulty plays in Arun to double our lead.
0-2
It's Arun again finishing a cross from Xander at the front post.
0-3
Big Fin gets the next running clear of the defence and finishing.
0-4
The next part of the game sees us miss some great chances and the Kinrossie keeper pulling off 3 or 4 good saves.
Kado is tested as well from a rare Kinrossie attack.

It's 5 when Fin S finishes well from a Nicol cross.
0-5
Josh slides Arun in behind and the keeper saves his shot but Xander is there to tuck it away.
0-6 HT

Max at last gets on the score sheet after running clear from a defence splitting pass from Fin S.
0-7
The home team and their sideline get to celebrate after their big winger finishes at the back post.
1-7
We get right back to work again straight away as Max scores again after from a Gaulty assist.
1-8
Cabrelli comes on and scores after a third assist from Gaulty.
1-9
Big Chesney (aka Neil) gets his "one and only" goal finishing after a Fin S header hits the post.
1-10
Fin S is at it again with a delicious through ball and Max he gets his hat trick with a good finish.
1-11
Matty is on and gets a goal from another Fin S assist.
1-12
Josh has a shot but it's blocked and then the home keeper and defender combine to put the ball into their own net.
1-13 FT.

Speaking to the Kinrossie Caledonian Afc players and coaches after the game they're battling on trying to save their team so best of luck to them all. Hopefully better times ahead.
Game was played in a great spirit with plenty good humour not even a mini riot 😁

A good display and into the next round for us. Lots of good performers but stand outs were Max getting 3 when it looked like it wasn't happening today, Fin S and Gaulty supplying the ammo and Mack in the engine room.
Fin L gets a mention as he reckons he would've scored if Ronan had squared it.
Debatable imo.

A good day topped off with celebratory drinks and food at The Campbeltown Bar although some lads shouldn't be drinking on an empty head 🤦

Next week is back to league duty with a game against Dundee North End.

Riverside West End 3 Dundee St James 0

Fairmuir Park was the venue for this league game but the drama started at midnight. Finlay being struck down by toothache, we'd have to try and get a stand in GK or as a very last resort Adam would have to go in. After a lot of messages and calls Adam would get the nod and put on the neon yellow GK kit on.
10 mins in and Ben and Xander combine to give Arun a chance but he blasts wide.
We get lucky as the ball bobbles about in our box comes off the bar and is eventually cleared.
Our stand in GK is called in to action with a good save but their lad was offside.
Arun has another couple of shots saved and wide and Adam kicks away a shot as the game goes end to end.
With 5 to go in the half we put St James under real pressure.
It's Norbs on the front foot winning the ball and sliding Max in but he thrashes it wide and high.
Norbs is at it again with an interception and through ball to Arun and this time he finishes well into the net.
1-0
Mack and Zak have been busy in the middle of the pitch this half and it's Mack giving the ball to Arun. A quick one two* with Fin S sees Arun run clear and crack a shot that had too much power on it for their goalie to keep out.
2-0 * training ground move
Just enough time left for Fin S to play Max in again to hit another shot but it's just over.
2-0 HT
After last weeks second half collapse we we're very keen to start the half with the same tempo we played the first. And we did.
Arun breaks free and shoots wide from the edge of the box but he wouldn't be denied his hat-trick and it's a cracker.
He picks the ball up at halfway and drives down the wing. He's too pacey for the defence but it looks like he's going to be crowed out as he heads into the box wide of the goal but he pulls off a great left foot finish.
3-0
Still a long way to go in this match and one goal for St James would change the game but we are really well organised across the middle and force St James to go long where Ben C and Norbs are clearing anything coming their way.
Save of the game as our human highlighter pen in the goal looks to have been beaten by a shot but he throws himself (and he should know better at his age) into a full length dive to palm it away.
The last 20 mins St James have a lot of the ball but we look comfortable and dangerous on the break.
Fin S just wide with a free kick. Gaulty has a couple of shots saved.
Fin S and Max both have golden opportunities to score and both hit the bar with just the keeper to beat.
Adam is beaten near the end but it's ruled out. But he almost "saved" it when it bounced off his toe and onto the post.
3-0 FT

A really good, organised and energetic display from our lads today putting the disappointment of last week behind us.
With everyone in blue and white playing their part.
MoM has got to be Arun with his goals.
Special mention for Adam (Bruce Hobbelaar 😁) for putting the gloves on. Solid in the goal, decent distribution and was well protected by the defence.
The young team may have to google that reference.

Good to see Zak S and Gaulty back after injuries, hopefully more back in the coming weeks.

All the best to Dundee St James for the season.

We're on Scottish Cup duty next week heading into Perthshire to take on Kinrossie Caledonian Afc.
