💔 In the UK, over 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests happen every year and survival rates can more than double when CPR is started immediately.

But what if you're working metres up a wind turbine, miles offshore, and help is over an hour away?

That’s where GWO Enhanced First Aid comes in.

This course goes beyond the basics, equipping wind technicians with the skills to:

✔️ Perform effective CPR and use an AED confidently.
✔️ Manage prolonged care while waiting for emergency services.

With the warmer weather finally making an appearance, our latest First Aid courses gave delegates the chance to get outside and put their skills into practice.

Using realistic scenarios, we focused on recognising and treating heat exhaustion and hyperthermia—conditions that can quickly become serious if they're not identified and managed correctly.

For those working in the wind industry, understanding heat-related illnesses is becoming increasingly important. Long shifts, physical work, PPE, and exposure to the elements can all increase the risk, making awareness and early intervention essential.

There's a big difference between learning from a slide and dealing with a casualty in a realistic environment. That's why we like to get our delegates thinking, communicating, and applying their knowledge in practical situations that reflect the challenges they may face on site.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved and some great discussions around prevention, recognition, and treatment throughout the day.

💬 How does your team prepare for working safely in hot conditions? We'd love to hear your experiences and tips in the comments.

Realistic training saves lives.

This week we delivered a GWO Enhanced First Aid scenario designed to push delegates beyond theory and into real-world decision making. From casualty recovery on a ladder to full CPR with airway management and AED use, the focus was on building confidence under pressure.

These kinds of immersive scenarios are where learning really sticks—when delegates have to assess, communicate, and act as a team in a dynamic environment. Mistakes here become lessons that could make all the difference offshore or on site.

A huge well done to everyone who got involved and stepped up 👏

If you’re looking to upskill your team with practical, high-impact training that reflects real incidents, let’s talk.
