🔴⚫️Greystone Gallus in Glasgow!🟢⚫️

Both our 2016s and 2017s headed to Glasgow Green Football Centre this morning to take part in the Glasgow Cup. Both years were represented by two teams, the Greystone Redwings and Blackhawks took to the field for the 2016s whilst the 2017s had the later start with their Impact and Dynamo teams.
The Blackhawks played some good stuff in the opening two games but a mixture of missed chances, big saves and metal work kept them at bay. As soon as the first goal hit the net though, the floodgates opened and this saw solid performances in games 3,4 and 5 produce the results the kids desired.
The Redwings similarly started slow but did find the net in game one in a tense 1-1 tie. They then put in two workmanlike efforts from which one fell short and one seen a warranted result in their favour. Game four saw an unbelievable display by OtB Oleks however despite their dominance, a coupe of lovely goals were executed by the Redwings. The last game of the day saw a real effort all round. An early Redwings goal then saw a defensive clinic by the team to see out the result in their favour.
Blackhawks player of the day seen Jack take the honours as voted by outgoing captains Freddie and Jensen.
Redwings player of the day went to Robbie who excelled in positions outwith his defensive wheelhouse but also in defence when needed.

The 2017s Impact took on a series of top tier teams. After an opening victory which saw them break down their opponent for late counters, their second game saw an impressive Ultimate Soccer outfit work superbly to gain an upper hand. The final three games seen tight tense affairs against very good oppositions but none were able to outgun the Impact.
Captain Quinn passed on the armband to the days player of the day Grierson who was a wall at the back but in truth Team Impact left everything they had, and more, at Glasgow Green today. Brave, ferocious, intense as well as some balling along the way. A few tired legs tonight thats for sure.
The Dynamo work rate today was superb with each and every one of them emptying the tank across 4 hard fought games. Sadly the fifth game was not to be with the final opponent not showing up however that did mean that the 4th and final game was the best performance of the day - lots of tackles, a good dose of fight and getting involved in more of the physical side of the game. The desire to give their best was evident between every young player.
Dynamo player of the day seen Captain Carter pass the armband too Brodey for a never say die effort throughout.

🔴Top Tier Barony Balling for 2016s⚫️

The Greystone Rovers 2016s were pleased to take a late place at the Barony Youth Football Festival today at Cumnock and took their place in the Tier 1 level of the proceedings. The kids were eager to test their ability against some of the top teams of their year.
The Greystone team were further pumped up by the talent of three top 2017s in different areas of the pitch. Harvey slotted in alongside Robbie and Jack at the back end, Archie S channeled his inner Iniesta in the middle of the park whilst Quinn slotted in to forward positions with Kinley, Thomas D & Alexander to run opposing defenders ragged.
The team got off to a flyer with goals reigning in whilst some resolute defending enabled GK Freddie to keep his work load limited and sheet clean.
The second two saw a real ding d**g on the bigger grass pitch and despite carving out the best chances, were unlucky not to squeeze the win in a 1-1 tie.
Game three saw the toughest test of the day and just came up short on that occasion.
Game four saw some inner bouncebackability as the kids racked up a comfortable outcome despite some last ditch blocks by the opponents in the initial minutes.
The final game was yet another stern test with a real 50/50 battle which the kids endeavour saw them score the only goal in a 1-0 tense win.
Five fantastic games against top opposition with only one little dent was a great morning for the Greystone kids who forced the early morning drizzle and wind to turn into sunshine and rainbows as the day went on…. A great morning of football that seen every single kid in the famous red, black and white play dynamite. Captain Jack (no Pirates of the Caribbean reference intended) selected Freddie as potd after a series of top stops!!
Well done the Famous GYT!
