It’s something you build.
A lot of people think confident people are just wired differently.
They’re not.
Confidence grows when you change the way you speak to yourself.
When you stop focusing on everything that could go wrong and start believing you’re capable of handling whatever comes your way.
It also comes from knowing what you want.
Because when you’re clear on what’s important to you, it’s much easier to make decisions, set boundaries, and take action… even when it feels uncomfortable.
Confidence isn’t about never feeling fear.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to move forward anyway.
You don’t wake up one day feeling confident.
You build it through the small decisions you make every day that are aligned with the life you want to create.
So ask yourself…
What do you really want in your job and what’s one small step you could take towards it this week?
If confidence is something you want to build, message me. Together, we can help you move from self-doubt to self-belief, one step at a time.
Your answer might tell you exactly what needs your attention.
If you’re already feeling that knot in your stomach before the week has even started, don’t ignore it.
It’s often one of the clearest signs that something isn’t feeling right.
The next step is to get curious.
What are you telling yourself?
What’s the fear?
What assumptions are you making?
What beliefs are keeping you where you are?
When you understand what’s underneath the dread, you stop reacting to it and start working with it.
That’s where change begins.
Because once you know what you’re working towards changing, you can start taking steps to make it happen.
I want to be clear…
I love hospitality.
It’s an incredible industry full of passionate, talented people.
I’m not here to encourage people to leave it.
I’m here to help people find the environments, build the confidence, and set the boundaries that allow them to thrive within it.
So I’ll leave you with this…
What are you dreading about the week ahead, and what might it be trying to tell you?
If you’re ready to stop just getting through the week and start creating one you actually look forward to, message me 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳
Many businesses ignore issues because, in the short term, it benefits them.
That’s wrong.
But this isn’t a simple conversation.
Hospitality has been built on unrealistic expectations for decades. Long hours. Unpaid overtime. “Just get on with it.” Sacrificing your life for the job.
Over time, many of us have accepted those standards as normal.
We’ve even started to believe they’re what makes a “good chef.”
That’s the part that needs to change.
Because every time we accept being treated poorly without question, those standards continue.
Setting boundaries feels uncomfortable because it goes against what many of us have been taught.
But imagine if more of us started saying:
✔️ I want a life outside of work.
✔️ I deserve to be paid for every hour I work.
✔️ I expect to be treated with respect.
✔️ I want opportunities to grow.
✔️ I don’t want to burn myself out just to prove my worth.
Are those unrealistic expectations?
Or are they simply basic standards that every person deserves?
The more people who stop accepting less, the more the industry has to adapt.
Change doesn’t happen overnight.
But it starts when enough people decide that “This isn’t normal and I don’t have to accept it.”
Which one of those five standards do you think hospitality needs to improve the most? Let me know below. 👇
Being a chef is something to be proud of.
It takes skill, resilience, creativity, and dedication. It’s a career that demands a lot from you, and it’s understandable that over time it becomes part of who you are.
But it shouldn’t become all of who you are.
When work becomes your whole identity, it’s easy to lose sight of the person behind the chef’s jacket.
What do you enjoy when you’re not at work?
Who are your favourite people to spend time with?
Where’s your favourite place to switch off?
What do you do simply because it makes you happy?
Those things matter just as much as your career.
Because when your whole world revolves around work, every difficult shift, every setback, and every bad day can feel like it defines you.
The more you build a life outside the kitchen, the more balanced and fulfilled you’ll feel inside it.
Being a chef is part of your story.
It doesn’t have to be the whole story.
So let me ask you…
Who are you when you take the apron off?
I’d love to hear what you love outside of hospitality. 👇

Somewhere along the way, especially in hospitality, many of us were taught that the only emotions worth showing are the positive ones.
Be happy.
Stay positive.
Get on with it.
Don’t let it bother you.
So when we feel stressed, frustrated, anxious, resentful, or overwhelmed, we try to bury it and carry on.
But those emotions aren’t there to make your life difficult.
They’re there to tell you something.
They’re often a sign that something isn’t working, a boundary has been crossed, or you’re living in a way that doesn’t feel right for you.
The question isn’t, “How do I stop feeling this?”
It’s, “What is this feeling trying to tell me?”
When you start listening instead of ignoring, you can begin to move forward.
A good place to start is:
👉 Recognise what’s bringing the emotion.
👉 Talk it through with someone you trust.
👉 Make a plan that supports you in creating a happier, healthier version of your life.
You don’t have to stay stuck in emotions that keep coming back.
Sometimes they aren’t asking to be pushed away.
They’re asking to be understood.
If you’re ready to stop pushing through and start understanding what’s really going on, message me RESET. I’d love to help you work through it.
Resentment doesn’t usually appear out of nowhere.
It’s often a sign that you’ve said yes to something that doesn’t align with what’s important to you.
Maybe you’ve agreed because you didn’t want to let someone down.
Maybe you felt guilty saying no.
Maybe you thought you should do it.
But every time you ignore what matters to you, it costs you something.
Your time.
Your energy.
Your peace of mind.
The resentment isn’t because you’re selfish.
It’s because there’s a gap between what you’re doing and what you actually value.
That doesn’t mean you never do things for other people. We all make compromises.
But if you’re constantly saying yes at the expense of yourself, it’s worth asking why.
The more clarity you have on what matters to you, the easier it becomes to make decisions that feel right… without guilt.
So here’s a question for you:
What’s one thing you’ve agreed to recently that, if you’re honest, you didn’t really want to do?
If this is something you struggle with, message me. Together, we can explore what’s driving those decisions and help you start choosing what’s right for you.
In hospitality, there’s often an unspoken expectation to just get on with it.
Push through.
Work harder.
Keep your head down.
Don’t let anyone know you’re finding it difficult.
Over time, it can make asking for support feel like you’ve failed.
But that’s simply not true.
Struggling is part of being human.
We all reach points where we need someone to help us make sense of what’s going on, especially when we’re working in high-pressure environments.
Asking for support isn’t a sign of weakness.
It’s a decision to stop carrying everything on your own.
When you have the right support, things start to shift.
You gain clarity.
You feel lighter.
You have more energy.
You become more focused on what you want, instead of what you think you should be doing or what everyone else expects of you.
You don’t have to keep proving how much you can cope.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is say, “I need some support.”
If that resonates with you, message me. Let’s have a conversation about what you need… not what you think you’re expected to handle alone.
These aren’t things you have to chase.
They often come from getting clear on what really matters to you.
When you know what’s important, decisions become easier.
You spend less time second-guessing yourself.
Less time worrying about what other people think.
Less time putting up with situations that don’t align with the life you want.
Instead, you start making choices that move you forwards, not keep you stuck.
Clarity creates confidence.
And confidence gives you the courage to take action.
So here’s something to think about…
If you truly felt calm, confident, excited, and full of possibility, what would you do differently?
I’d love to hear your answer in the comments.
And if you’re struggling to find that clarity, message me RESET. Sometimes one conversation is all it takes to start seeing things differently.
When you know your why, other people’s opinions become a lot less important.
One thing I’ve noticed is that many people aren’t lacking confidence.
They’re lacking clarity.
They’re so busy trying to meet everyone else’s expectations that they’ve stopped asking themselves:
What do I actually want?
Without that focus, it’s easy to feel lost.
You second-guess your decisions.
You worry about what everyone else will think.
You stay in situations that don’t feel right.
You put your own needs at the bottom of the list.
Not because you want to…
But because you don’t have a clear direction to pull you forward.
When you understand what matters to you, your values, your goals, and the life you want to build- it becomes much easier to make decisions that align with them.
That doesn’t mean people won’t have opinions.
It means those opinions stop driving your life.
So let me ask you…
What actually matters to you?
If you’re struggling to answer that, maybe that’s the place to start.
If you’re ready to find more clarity, confidence, and direction, message me RESET and let’s work through it together.
