What a brilliant two games our boys had today against Snaith and SWR Tigers in a friendly! ⚽️🔥
All three teams were on fire today, but Club Thorne just edged the win! 🏆👏

Between Markus and Jacob a whopping 14 goals scored! ⚽️

However, this post is more about showing the progress our team have made than the result (although the win is definitely a bonus! 😉).

The improvement in our boys has been fantastic to see. Their footwork, communication, passing and understanding of the game have vastly improved throughout the team. They’re beginning to realise that a great assist can be just as valuable as scoring a goal — and that teamwork is what makes a great team! 👏⚽️

A huge shout-out to this season’s captain, Jacob, who did an incredible job holding the team together today. He showed fantastic sportsmanship, leadership and maturity while taking on the responsibilities that come with being captain. We couldn’t be prouder! 👏💙

Today also showed just how versatile our players are. They took on different roles and positions on the pitch that they may not necessarily be used to, yet they adapted brilliantly and supported each other throughout. 🙌

We are so proud of how far these boys have come. Their dedication to training, their teammates and football as a sport is really starting to shine through.

After spending the summer concentrating on training techniques, our boys were absolutely fantastic in their first friendly back! 💪⚽️

But today wasn’t just about the goals — it was about teamwork, passing, defending, supporting each other and putting all those hours of training into practice. And wow, did they do just that! 👏🔥

The hard work over the last few weeks has definitely paid off, and there were some absolutely outstanding moments from every player.

⭐️ JACOB ⭐️
Jacob has absolutely excelled himself through training, learning that sometimes the best way to create a goal is to make the pass. Today, he showed that perfectly, making some fantastic passes to teammates when he recognised they were closer to goal and had a better chance of scoring. 👏
But Jacob also spotted plenty of opportunities for himself, and his accuracy was absolutely spot on! He had his game face on today, enjoyed plenty of possession and created some fantastic assists alongside his goals.

⭐️ MARKUS ⭐️
Markus showed fantastic teamwork and dedication today. He stayed focused on the game, studying the opposition and making sure he was marking his player while also positioning himself close to goal, ready for that important pass.
His confidence on the pitch has increased massively, and it really showed today! Some great movement, determination and finishing.

⭐️ CALEB ⭐️
Caleb showed us today that he isn’t just a brilliant defender — he’s a fantastic all-round player too! 👏
He was in the right place at the right time, supported the goalkeeper brilliantly and worked tirelessly around the pitch. When Caleb spotted an opportunity to score, he took it!
The best part? He didn’t even realise he’d scored until everyone started cheering! 😂🙌 His face absolutely lit up and he was ecstatic!

⭐️ BILLY ⭐️
Wow, Billy had the fire in his belly today! 🔥
Once again, Billy showed incredible determination to support his teammates in every way possible — assisting, passing, tackling and putting in some brilliant defensive work.
His confidence with the ball and in his tackling really stood out today, and he showed exactly what it means to be an all-round, dedicated team player.

⭐️ JAXSON ⭐️
Jaxson, when you’ve got that ball and you’re focused, no one is getting it from you! 😆⚽️
He ran across that pitch with a keen eye, constantly looking for his teammates and searching for the right opportunity to make a pass.
Some brilliant defending, great determination and fantastic teamwork from you today, matey!

Some absolutely cracking saves from Hudson once again! 🧤🔥
His concentration, skill and techniques have improved massively, and his ability to support his teammates from the back was fantastic to see.

⭐️ SAM ⭐️
What a debut! 👏⚽️
For his very first game, Sam walked onto that pitch with the confidence of someone who had been playing for years! His determination to get involved, support his teammates and give everything was fantastic.
He even pulled off some brilliant defending!
We hope today has given you an even bigger confidence boost to continue your football journey, Sam. You should be really proud of yourself!

OVERALL — AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE FROM EVERY SINGLE PLAYER! ⚽️
The goals were fantastic, but what really stood out today was the teamwork.
From passing and assisting to defending, marking, supporting the goalkeeper and encouraging one another, the boys showed just how much they’ve taken on board from training.
The summer work, dedication and effort are clearly paying off, and today was a brilliant way to start back football💪🔥

The boys have officially signed their contracts, showing their commitment to the team and each other. It’s fantastic to see them making this commitment and taking another exciting step in their football journey. We’re incredibly proud of every single one of them! 👏

A massive thank you to Thorne Colliery Boys for making the day extra special. Our boys had the amazing opportunity to be mascots, walk the players out onto the pitch and have a look around the club. It was a brilliant experience for them, and one they’ll remember for a long time! 🙌⚽

Our boys would say soaking coach Aaron was the best part of the day 😂😂

The U8 Yellows took part in a challenging tournament today, facing some very strong opposition throughout the day. Despite the tough competition, every player worked incredibly hard, giving their absolute best in every match and never giving up.

There were some fantastic moments on display, including beautiful passing moves that showed how much the team has developed and grown together. The players worked tirelessly for one another, demonstrating great teamwork, determination, and a positive attitude from start to finish. And an absolutely cracking goal from Markus which was beautifully assisted by Jacob ⚽️

Defensively, there were some brilliant saves that kept the team in games and highlighted the courage and concentration of our goalkeeper. Across the pitch, every player contributed, supporting each other and working as a unit against some talented teams.

While the results may not tell the full story, the effort, commitment, and sportsmanship shown by the U8 Yellows were outstanding. The coaches and parents should be extremely proud of the players, who represented the team brilliantly and showed what can be achieved through hard work, teamwork, and a great attitude.

We are incredibly proud of all the players who completed an amazing 8.05km fundraising walk in support of our football team.

Every player showed fantastic determination, resilience, and team spirit throughout the challenge. As the walk went on and tired legs started to kick in, the team encouraged one another to keep going, offering support, motivation, and plenty of positive words along the way. It was wonderful to see teammates helping each other through the tougher moments and working together to reach the finish.

The effort, attitude, and teamwork displayed by everyone involved truly reflected the values of our club. Each player should be extremely proud of what they achieved.

A huge thank you also goes to all of the parents and families who supported the team during the walk. Your encouragement, assistance, and enthusiasm helped make the day such a success.

We would also like to thank everyone who has already sponsored the team. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and will help support the continued development of our players and club activities.

Today our boys take part in the club Thorne tournament where they can showcase their hard work, these boys have been training 2/3 times a week to prepare for this and want to wish them all the luck in the world 💙💛

Brilliant day for our tournament today, the sun was out, the boys were sweating, plenty of food and snacks and lots of support from our parents to cheer our children on! For a first beach tournament they did bloody amazing! 💙💛
