There were just five matches in the Camper UK Premier North as County Cup ties began to make holes in the fixture list. Newly promoted Rossington continued their impressive start to the season with a 6-2 win at AFC Phoenix. As was the case last Saturday Phoenix scored first, Yassine Teache putting them in front on 8 minutes, Leo Graham levelling after 26. Five minutes later the home side led again through Ira Bacula which proved to be high point of their afternoon. A Lee Holmes double gave Rossington the advantage by half time, Curtis Mann, Damian Wieczarek and Ronin Herrington all doing their bit for the goal difference in the second half. Elite AFC belatedly started their season with a 4-2 defeat of Glapwell. The visitors began well, Billy Waterfall withe the opening goal on 8 minutes, wiped out by Jacob Swales five minutes later. Josh Wooliscroft restored Glapwell’s lead four minutes before the break the match being turned oh its head in the space of four minutes midway through the half in which Elite scored three times, McKenzie Walker, Robbie Glennon and Tobias Burke all found the net, the last two from the penalty spot. A Joe Smith hat trick and a goal from Alex Gibbins gave Brodsworth Main a 4-0 win at Evo FC. The young Evo side posed some problems in the early stages and limited the visitors to a single goal at the interval, Smith scoring on 23 minutes. He doubled the advantage midway through the second half and after Gibbins scored on 82 minutes, completed his treble two minutes from time. A close game between RHP and Dinnington Town ended in a 3-1 win for the visitors. There was little to choose the two sides in the first half, Dinnington going in two up through Sam Eckhardt on 34 minutes and the second a deflected shot from Cole Thorpe. Luke Horne pulled one back with an hour played, and the hosts had opportunities to draw level, Jordan Turner’s goal, in the 10th minute of added time giving a final scoreline which perhaps didn’t quite reflect how closely fought the game had been. The reserve sides of Staveley and Worksop met at Inkersall Road with Staveley taking the points 4-1. Sam Davies gave them an 11th minute lead which was improved on by Josh Nicholls after 23, Worksop responding immediately through David Golinski. Davies got his second in the 73rd minute, the best goal of the game, a screamer from James Rodgers coming five minutes from time.
Wirksworth Ivanhoe and the two Holbrook sides top the embryo Premier South table all three sides taking maximum points this weekend. Ivanhoe narrowly defeating Cromford & Wirksworth Town 2-1, Harley Taylor giving them a first half lead. Stu Baker equalised after the break, but a penalty put away by Ewan Sutherill secured the points, leaving Cromford still seeking their first point of the season. Holbrook St Michaels have been flourihing at the start of the new season and comfortably saw off the challenge of Mickleover Athletic 4-0, the goals shared between Dan Kellogg, Joe Moore, Anri Burmeister and Rich Hanslow. Neighbours Holbrook Sports came from behind to win 3-1 at Gresley Rovers B. Gresley went in front with an Ethan Watson penalty, Josh House equalising on 34 minutes. Goals in the second half for Joel Searcey on 67 minutes and Ben Lewin two minutes from time ensured the points travelled back to Holbrook. A convincing win for Mickleover RBL as they comfortably got the better of Derby Gazers 6-2. Scorers for the Legion were Rob Scope with two,, Jordy Lee, Dean Oliver, Spencer Cook and Billy Freeborough, Gazers’ replying with goals from Alex Rudd and Deon Dube. A point at last for Graham Street Prims against near neighbours Borrowash Victoria. Prims went in front after 12minutes, Louis Fazal the scorer, Vics finally equalising on 75 minutes, sub Dean Ironmonger rescuing a point.
Success for our clubs in the Sheffield Senior Cup with three more joining Brodsworth Main in Round Two. AFC Bentley beat AFC Dronfield in a thriller, the final score 3-2. Bentley went one up with an own goal on 33 minutes, Dronfield equalising in the next attack. They went in front again after 80 minutes Jamie Thompson the scorer. They were pegged back again on 91 minutes but stuck at it, Craig Aspinall getting the winner in the 97th minute. Burngreave United hammered Kiveton Park 10-1 in a total mismatch. Scorers were Abdulrahman Asad with four, two from Alusine Mansaray and one each for Marvis Ogbemudia, Tyrone Yeboah, Hasan Mohammed and Christian Ndeugoe. SJR Worksop are also through following a 4-3 win against Ecclesfield Red Rose, thanks to Matty Templeton’s hat trick and one from Aaron Redfern.

BUCKINGHAM INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP, FIRST ROUND DRAW.

The draw for the first round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup will take place at 10-00am on Wednesday 3rd September at the offices of Buckingham Insurance.

The draw will be recorded and shown on Facebook as soon as possible following it's conclusion.
