Grundtvig FILE project 'Festivals for Informal Learning in Europe' brings together (chiefly rural) co Selenca. Ivanci is a village with 300 inhabitants.
An association for natural and cultural heritage preservation based in Ivanci, Slovenia, 8km east of Murska Sobota. It lies on flat Panonian surface surrounded by fields, meadows and forests. It has gone through rapid development processes during last 30 years (asphalt road connections to all neighbouring villages, telephone, cable tv, sewer system, lightning, sports park, etc.). The majority of p
opulation is dealing with farming, especially vegetables. Every year Selenca organizes The vegetable farmer’s day. It is an event that has mix of educational, cultural and entertainment activities. Usually we invite some established lecturers who then lecture on healthy nutrition, physical activities, new farming methods and similar topics. Housemaids from village prepare the exposition of various vegetable foods with accompanied degustation of exposed meals one hour after opening. There’s some live cooking activity involved as well. Last year was the competition in cooking the Ratatouille dish with six competing teams. We didn’t forget the children who had their own mini potter’s workshop and first time visitors to Ivanci who could go on photo safari around the village. All of this is accompanied with music and dances. Several of our activities from last year are visible on our page http://facebook.com/selenca.ivanci
