Itβs time for an August recap π
August brought us more hot weather, with a few sessions being adapted due to the heat.
We ran 20 sessions. This included:
- 2 league races - Highdown Hike and Windlesham Whip
-The finale of our 5k improvement sessions, where our runners showed excellent improvement despite the heat impacting training throughout
- A parkrun tour
-Horsham Round - a 31 mile relay on the trails around Horsham. Runners can do a minimum of 3 miles as part of a team, but our runners did a lot more!
So if you like the sound of:
ππ½ββοΈInterval, hill and social sessions that are held in locations that enable you to run at your own pace. Like our sessions at Tilgate, Ifield Mill Pond and West Green park this month.
ππΌMonthly parkrun tours - this month we visited Kingdom, celebrating a 200th parkrun and completion of a challenge.
ππ½ββοΈ Social runs, including our 3km Friday 3.
πββοΈ Structured training sessions like our 5k improvement plan.
ππΌ Enjoying summer evenings on the trails.
ππ½ββοΈ Having the opportunity to challenge yourself at league races, or enjoy the sunset on the Downs.
Then get in touch and join us for September as we start to count down to our 10 year anniversary π

The last few weeks of July were busy at CRC, despite the ongoing hot weather. Hereβs a recap of what weβve been up to:
πββοΈ Members ran the Seven Stiles league race in Henfield. Guess how many stiles are involved on this fantastic and fairly flat race? (Itβs not 7)!
ππΌ We pootled around Pound Hill and explored some new trails near the Frog and Nightgown.
πββοΈ Our social runs and 5k improvement sessions continued, with all our members working so hard in challenging weather ππ»
ππΌTrack took place at K2 on the last Thursday of the month.
π Members headed off to Hove to take part in The Rainbow Run - a 5k race hosted by Brighton and Hove Frontrunners. A few of us stayed for a picnic after.

We were really pleased to be able to support the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary School Sports Day with the use of our arch way today! We hope it adds to their special day and wish all the young people (and any parents/guardians or teachers!) taking part the best of luck in all the activities.
The school have been very kind in letting us use their facilities for some of our sessions so this is the least we could do in return.
A great example of how local schools and community groups can come together to support each other!
Now, ready, steady go!

Another week, another reason to love being part of Crawley Run Crew! πββοΈπββοΈβοΈ
Despite a few sessions falling victim to the weather (health & safety first!), we still packed plenty into the week and it was fantastic to see so many of you out running together.
π³ Monday β Tilgate Lake Laps
We started the week with a relaxed social run around Tilgate, enjoying the summer evening, catching up with friends and getting some easy miles in.
β‘ Tuesday β 5K Improvement Plan: Speed Session
Our 5K Improvers continued their journey with a speed-focused session, working hard on technique, confidence and pace. Great effort from everyone involved!
π Thursday β Social Run
Given the heat we swapped the 5k improvement plan stopwatch for conversation and enjoyed a relaxed social run instead.
π Sunday β WSFRL Hornets Stinger
The week finished today with another fantastic West Sussex Fun Run League race. A huge well done to everyone who pulled on a CRC vest and tackled the Hornets Stinger (and hills in this heat!) β your support, determination and team spirit were brilliant to see.
Whether you're training for a goal, taking your first steps into running or simply enjoying being part of the community, thank you for making CRC such a welcoming and supportive club.
A big thank you as always to our amazing run leaders, volunteers and everyone who came along this week. We can't wait to do it all again next week! β€οΈ
