Some much needed R&R ☀️🇵🇹
Midway through a full week off training too, so that means no gym or unning 🚫 just a much-needed mental and physical reset 🧘♂️
Exploring a new city really does so much for the soul. Lisbon has so character; it's been nice to just slow down the pace of life and go with the flow for a few days 🤙
I'm trying to be more present again instead of always thinking about what's next, after a recent life has put a lot into perspective. Funny how life has a way of doing that.
It's now also been a month since we left for our 10-day all-inclusive family holiday. In the past, I'd have gone completely overboard, but this year I was much more conscious not to overeat just because the food was there. Don't get me wrong, the scales definitely tipped the wrong way at times (especially in the 2nd half of the holiday 😂), but when I got home I just went straight back to eating normally and training.
No crazy calorie restriction. No hours of cardio trying to "undo the damage."
I just ate intuitively. Some days I was hungrier, so I ate more. Other days I naturally ate less. It probably balanced out around maintenance overall 💪
Then last weekend I spent two days at my dad's wake and funeral. Plenty of food, a few drinks, and another reminder that life doesn't always go to plan.
That's exactly why I don't believe in stressing over the scales too much or feeling guilty every time you enjoy yourself 👎
Fitness should fit around your life, not become your life!
Go for brunch, order what you actually fancy. Have the traybake. Enjoy the cocktails on holiday. Go out for lunch with friends and family. Then simply get back to your normal routine afterwards.
You don't need to be perfect. You just need to be consistent 📈
I've been doing this for a long time now, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that people massively overcomplicate it...
Everything in moderation! ⚖️
Life is for living. Make the memories, enjoy the moments, and don't forget to look after yourself along the way ❤️
