⚽ U19 MATCH REPORT | AMBASSADORS 3–4 ANNAGH UNITED

A battling performance from our U19s today against a strong Annagh United side, with the lads showing great character to fight back from 3–1 down.

Annagh took an early lead from a corner before adding a second in slightly unfortunate circumstances. Ambassadors responded well, with a great switch of play finding Luke Irwin on the right. Luke did brilliantly before crossing for Jacob Saunderson, who finished expertly to make it 2–1.

Annagh restored their two-goal advantage early in the second half, but our lads weren't finished.

A few changes saw Samuel Eakin move up front, where his physical presence and link-up play made a real impact. After excellent work from Rhys Carson, U19 debutant Alex Calvert played a great pass into Sam, who calmly finished to make it 3–2.

Sam then struck again with another well-taken finish to complete the comeback and level the game at 3–3.

With just three minutes remaining, Annagh regained the lead with a goal that had more than a touch of controversy about it. A tough lesson for the lads in staying focused and playing to the referee's whistle.

The heads didn't drop, though, and we came agonisingly close to a deserved equaliser at the very end, only to see the ball cannon back off the crossbar.

A disappointing result, but plenty of positives - deepening team spirit, improving communication and great competitiveness throughout.

⚽ Goals: Jacob Saunderson, Samuel Eakin ×2

👏 Thanks to Annagh United for the game, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

Lurgan Town U19s 6–2 Ambassadors U19s

Our newly formed U19s played their first game today, with the squad made up mainly of players who were playing U17 football last season.

Despite the final scoreline, there was plenty to be encouraged by. Ambassadors were arguably the better side for much of the first half, playing some good football, but two goals from set pieces saw Lurgan Town take a 2–0 lead into the break.

The boys responded really well after half-time, with goals from Archie Rowland and Sam Eakin bringing us right back into the game at 2–2.

As the game wore on, we moved away from the passing football that had worked well and started to go longer, which played more into the hands of a bigger and more physical Lurgan side. Their greater numbers from the bench also began to tell as the game opened up.

Another set piece restored Lurgan's lead, before a penalty, and from there the scoreline got away from us

FT: Lurgan Town U19s 6–2 Ambassadors U19s

⚽ Archie Rowland
⚽ Sam Eakin

For a first outing at U19 level, there were plenty of positives and the final scoreline probably doesn't tell the full story. Lots to work on, but also plenty to build on as this young squad finds its feet.

PSNI 2–4 Ambassadors FC (AET)

Ambassadors progressed in the Alan Wilson Cup after a hard-fought 4–2 extra-time win away to PSNI.

Jack Calvert scored twice for Ambassadors, after PSNI took an early lead but PSNI stayed in the game and continued to contest and at the end of 90 minutes the sides couldn't be separated at 2–2.

Into extra time — and Ambassadors eventually made the breakthrough.

It was down to the 42-year-old manager Kenny Camlin to show the younger guys how to finish, as he came off the bench to put Ambassadors ahead.

Tom Donaldson then found the net with a Camlin assist to make it 4–2 and finally put a competitive PSNI side away.

A good test, a proper cup tie and, most importantly, a place in the next round of the Alan Wilson Cup.

AFC Craigavon 1–0 Ambassadors FC
Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Ambassadors FC suffered late heartbreak as an 88th-minute goal gave AFC Craigavon a narrow 1–0 victory.

It was a tight and competitive game throughout, with Ambassadors arguably enjoying the better of the play without being able to turn that into goals.

The visitors created a few good opportunities but couldn’t find the finishing touch, with the final ball and cutting edge in the attacking third proving the difference on the night.

With the game looking destined to finish goalless, AFC Craigavon struck in the 88th minute to sn**ch all three points.

A frustrating result for Ambassadors, who will feel their overall performance deserved something from the game. There were positives to take, but also plenty to work on as the team looks to become more clinical going forward.

Attention now turns to Saturday, with a big opportunity to respond, get back to winning ways and build some confidence.
