🥋 Sumo Time!💥

One of our juniors’ favourite games is Sumo!

While it’s always full of smiles and laughter, there’s plenty of learning happening too. This game is a fantastic introduction to some of the key principles of judo competition, helping our juniors understand how to use the contest area to their advantage, when to attack, when to defend, and how to stay balanced under pressure.

By learning these skills through fun and engaging games, our judoka build confidence before putting them into practice during training.

Who said learning judo couldn’t be this much fun? 💙🥋

🥋 Western Area Open – Bath 🥋

Today wasn’t just about medals it was about growth, experience, and taking another step forward.

Kieret may not have reached the podium this time, but we’re incredibly proud of her performance. She fought with determination, showed great spirit, and gave us valuable insight into the areas we need to keep developing. Every competition is a lesson, and every lesson brings us closer to our goals.

A huge congratulations to Alice, who competed in her very first event representing Yamato Judo Academy and brought home a bronze medal! 🥉

This is only the beginning of your journey with us, and we couldn’t be happier for you. Your hard work, courage, and willingness to step onto the competition mat have already paid off. We have no doubt that this is the first of many special moments to come.

Congratulations to both athletes for representing Yamato Judo Academy with pride, respect, and determination.

The journey has only just begun… and we’re excited for what’s ahead. ❤️🤍🥋

A fantastic turnout at training last night! 🥋💪

Even with some of our juniors and seniors away on holiday or busy with other commitments, it was brilliant to see so many faces on the mat.

We’re incredibly proud of the community we’re building at Yamato Judo Academy. It’s more than just a place to train – it’s a supportive, encouraging environment where everyone helps each other improve, works hard, and has plenty of fun along the way.

Thank you to everyone who came along and brought such great energy to the session. We can’t wait to do it all again next week! 👏

👉 Swipe to the end to see the three late arrivals... Were they trying to avoid the group photo? Maybe... maybe not... we’ll never know! 🤔Either way, they didn’t escape the camera in the end! 📸

🥋 Pull up the Rope!💪

Who says warming up has to be boring? 😄

“Pull the Rope” is one of the many ways we get everyone moving and working before training begins. It’s a great way to build teamwork and coordination all while warming up and getting ready to train hard on the mat!

Want to give judo a try? We’d love to welcome you to the club!
