Just in case you think you're alone, trust me. You're not! ❤️

I also find it SO difficult to stay structured with my workouts sometimes. Life happens, kids need you, plans change… and suddenly exercise has dropped right down the priority list.

Tonight, my 45-minute workout took me about an hour and a half to get through… and I eventually gave up at 38 minutes because I had stopped so many times to sort out kids who apparently had absolutely no intention of going to sleep 😂

But one thing I tell my clients, and remind myself too, is that exercise routines are like a lightbulb on a dimmer switch — not an on/off switch.

Sometimes the dimmer needs to be turned right down low.

That doesn't mean you've failed or that you've "fallen off the wagon". It just means that, for this bit of life, the dial is lower.

And you know what? You can always turn it back up again.

That's exactly where I'm at at the moment. I'm not trying to go from 0 to 100. I'm just slowly turning the dial back up.

🏃‍♀️ FIREFLY RUN CLUB — NOW WITH A COUCH TO 5K GROUP! 🏃‍♀️

First Couch to 5K session: THURSDAY 1ST OCTOBER | 7PM

📍 Pump Rooms, Pittville Park
💸 FREE
🗓️ Every Thursday at 7pm

Our usual Firefly Run Club is continuing as normal, but we’re opening up an extra group for anyone who wants to start running from scratch or build up from the beginning.

So each Thursday we’ll have different pace groups running alongside each other — including our new Couch to 5K group, paced by the lovely Beth! ❤️

We’ll work through Weeks 1–7 of the Couch to 5K app, building from those first run/walk sessions towards a continuous 25-minute run.

The app has 3 runs each week, and Thursday Run Club will be one of them. You’ll do the other two in your own time.

And Beth is the perfect person to lead it. She did her own Couch to 5K last year, starting around this time of year, and just last weekend completed the Cheltenham 10K! 🙌

So if you’ve been thinking…

“I’d love to start running, but I’m not a runner.”
“Everyone else will be much faster than me.”
“I wouldn’t know where to start.”

Come and join us.

You don’t need to be fast. You don’t need to run 5K. You don’t even need to think of yourself as a runner.

Just start where you are, and we’ll build from there. 🏃‍♀️

Thursday 1st October | 7pm
Then every Thursday at 7pm
Pump Rooms, Pittville Park
FREE

Drop a 🏃‍♀️ below or message me if you want to join the Couch to 5K group! Or head over to fireflyfit.co.uk to book on!

What a day for the Firefly crew yesterday 🧡

Cheltenham Run, and what a brilliant one it was to see so many Fireflies out there taking on their own challenges, raising money for brilliant causes and supporting each other along the way.

🏃‍♀️ Half marathon finishers: Alice, Anna, Jess, Sophie, Aileen and me.

🏃‍♀️ 10K finishers: Beth, Jo, Jess, Tash, Noush & Phil

There were PBs, big goals, firsts, tough moments, tired legs and plenty of determination — but most of all, lots of people doing something that mattered to them.

And the support around the course was just brilliant. There's something pretty special about running through your hometown and hearing people cheer you on.

Even better seeing the Firefly flag flying proudly by the Town Hall and our little corner of the Firefly community cheering everyone through. 🧡

So much money raised for some really great causes too, which makes the whole thing even more special.

Very proud of this lot. Real people, real lives, real fitness — and a pretty bloody brilliant community. 🧡

You just have to start.

But sometimes getting over that hurdle can seem massive.

I’m 41, and I’m genuinely really pleased that I’m able to do the things I’m doing at the moment.

I’ve just done a paddleboard, bike and run event, and this weekend I’m hoping to run a half marathon.

And I love that I can do those things.

But actually, that’s not really the point.

Because getting fitter doesn’t have to mean training for a half marathon or signing up for a big event.

It can be going for a walk.

Going for a swim.

Coming along to a class.

Picking up some weights.

Doing 10 minutes in your living room.

It doesn’t have to be excessive. It doesn’t have to take over your life. And it definitely doesn’t have to look like someone else’s fitness.

You just need to start somewhere.

So, if you’ve been putting it off, waiting for the “right” time or telling yourself you need to get fitter before you start…

Start small.

What’s one thing you could do this week?

A walk. A swim. A class. Ten minutes of movement.

Just start.

And if you want a bit of help getting started, come and join us at Firefly. ❤️

Full disclaimer: this is not a highly polished social media post.

This is just a small business owner who is also a mum, trying to find that elusive work/life balance, whilst also trying to build a proper income that’s the equivalent of the job I left.

And who, quite honestly, doesn’t have loads of time and gets disproportionately annoyed by how long it takes me to put together a social media post! 😂

But I also know I need to keep showing up here, so you can hear about — and hopefully spread the word about — the fab community I’m trying to build.

A community that supports mums and women through all stages of life, from pregnancy and newborns, through to teenagers and beyond.

So, I’m going to try to be a bit more present on here.

But that probably means being a lot less polished.

And maybe that’s actually a good thing?!

It's true what they say, exercise really does give you a boost!!

I remember seeing this idea years ago, "Transformation photos" but not as you know it. A picture taken before a workout versus after and the change in people's faces was always phenomenal! Today I recreated my own

Look at the glow in the after picture! Yes, we're a lot more sweaty too but the genuine joy in everyone's faces after a class always amazes me and today I managed to capture it on camera!

Maybe I need to make this a more regular post!

Normally, when it comes to arranging to meet up with friends, the default suggestion seems to be “go for a drink”.

But over the years, it’s become apparent that actually, lots of us don’t necessarily enjoy that all that much — especially midweek. Me included. Is it just me?! 😂

So with the evenings getting shorter and the daylight slowly disappearing, we made the most of it and squeezed in a quick walk before bedtime instead.

Maybe one of the hidden joys of your 40s is doing the things that actually please you and make you happy.

Just over TWO WEEKS until I run the Cheltenham Half Marathon 🏃‍♀️💨

When I signed up, I had all these expectations of trying to beat my previous time. I’d run a half before, so obviously I thought I’d train properly, build the mileage, be consistent… and turn up ready to smash it.

Well… training hasn’t quite gone to plan 😂

Consistency has been questionable, slowly building the mileage definitely hasn’t happened, and the most I’ve run so far is 10 miles — and that was a one-off.

So at this stage, the goal has changed.

Just get round. Just complete it. Just enjoy it.

Tonight, it took me about an hour and a half to actually motivate myself out of the door. I was very close to deciding I couldn’t be bothered.

Then my eldest asked if she could come with me and ride her bike alongside me.

And honestly? It turned into one of the best runs I’ve had in ages ❤️

I’ve always dreamed of having a kid who actually wants to come and do this kind of stuff with me, so tonight felt like a pretty big win — even if my training plan is currently a shambles 😂

The half marathon might not be about a PB this time, but it’s about showing up, doing what I can, and hopefully making some good memories along the way.

And I’m also running it to raise money for the Big Space Cancer Appeal in Cheltenham — a cause that is very close to my heart.

If you’d like to support me, the donation link is in my bio 💛

Now… someone remind me of this positive attitude when I’m at mile 11 in two weeks’ time 😬😂

If you've been wondering whether to come and try a Fit & Strong Mamas class, here are a few reasons why you might love it...

💛 It's about more than exercise
You don't need to be on a mission to "get fit" to join us. We have mums who have never exercised before come along and absolutely love it because the class offers so much more than just a workout.

💛 Get outside and boost your mood
A bit of fresh air can work wonders, especially after a broken night's sleep. The classes give you a reason to get out of the house and do something positive for yourself.

💛 Meet other mums who get it
Motherhood can feel lonely at times. Being around other mums who understand what you're going through can make a huge difference, and many lovely friendships have started at class.

💛 Reconnect with your body
After having a baby, it's common to feel a little disconnected from your body. The classes help you rebuild confidence and appreciate everything your body has achieved and is capable of.

💛 Build strength from the inside out
We focus on strengthening your whole body, including your core, pelvic floor, legs, glutes and upper body, helping you feel stronger and more capable in everyday life.

💛 C-section friendly
If you've had a C-section, you're very welcome. Having had two emergency C-sections myself, I understand some of the worries that can come with returning to exercise. I'm always happy to share my experience and support you along the way.

💛 Come on your own or bring a friend
Lots of mums come by themselves, while others bring their antenatal friends. Either way, you'll be warmly welcomed and can make it part of your weekly routine.

💛 Stay for a coffee afterwards
Both of my locations have fantastic cafés nearby, giving you the chance to enjoy a chat, a coffee and some extra connection time after class—for both you and your baby.

I'd love to welcome you along. If you'd like to find out more, or you're wondering whether the class is right for you, just drop me a message and let's have a chat. 💛
