This summer, the team at The Lighthouse Sports and Social Hub created a safe, supportive space where children could build confidence, try new experiences and make lasting memories. 💙

From exploring Wrabness Woods and meeting reptiles, to beach trips and Wheels for All Colchester cycling sessions, children were supported to take part at their own pace and achieve things they never thought possible.

One child gained the confidence to ride a bike for the first time, while another discovered a love for spending time outdoors. Parents told us how grateful they were to find a club they could trust, where their children were happy and thriving.

☀️ What a summer it’s been!

This summer, we visited HAF clubs across Essex and Thurrock and saw first-hand the incredible work our delivery partners do to create memorable experiences for children and families.

Thanks to their dedication, 259 clubs delivered activities that helped children stay active, build friendships, learn new skills and enjoy nutritious meals, resulting in more than 87,000 attendances across the programme.

We were also proud to see providers working with partners including Essex Cricket in the Community, Essex Fire & Rescue Service, The Daily Mile UK and water safety organisations to bring additional opportunities and important life skills to children throughout the summer.

A huge thank you to all the delivery partners, staff, volunteers and organisations who made it possible💜

🎥 Take a look at our Summer HAF highlights video to see the fun, friendships and impact for yourself.

This week marks three years of . 🎉

What started as a campaign set up by Active Essex to help young people across Essex find physical activities they enjoy has become a key part of how we listen to, engage with and empower young people.

The principles of youth voice, co-design and collaboration that sit at the heart of now help shape Essex Activate and our shared ambition to create a healthier, more active Essex.

A huge thank you to every young person, school, club, community organisation and partner who has been part of the journey so far.

October Half Term eligibility stays the same!

Essex ActivAte funded places will continue to be available for children receiving income-related free school meals and for children and young people from eligible low-income families.

Half term programmes run for a shorter period than the main summer holidays, so spaces are limited and prioritised for those who would benefit most from the support.
