What a fantastic two days of shinty!
Our Angus County Camanachd Summer Shinty Camp has come to an end, and what a brilliant success it was!
We welcomed 24 young players across the two days, with children of all abilities enjoying fun games, learning new skills, and making new friends. We were especially delighted to welcome two participants all the way from the USA – it’s fantastic to see shinty bringing people together from across the world!
A huge thank you to Euan, our Camanachd Association Development Officer, for all his hard work and support in helping run the camp. Your enthusiasm and dedication made a real difference.
A massive thank you also goes to all of our volunteer coaches who gave up their time to make the camp possible. Without your commitment, energy, and passion for the game, events like this simply couldn’t happen.
Most importantly, thank you to all the parents and children for your support. We hope everyone had a brilliant time, learned something new, and leaves with even more enthusiasm for shinty.
Looking forward to next years camp 💪🏻

What a fantastic turnout for our Wednesday night Come & Have a Go session!
This week our new players got their first taste of shinty, learning the basics of stick handling, passing, tackling and teamwork before putting their skills into some fun small-sided games. It was great to see so much enthusiasm, effort and plenty of smiles from everyone involved.
A huge thank you to our coaches and volunteers who helped introduce the sport and made the evening such a success. Whether it was your first time picking up a caman or you were returning for another session, everyone showed great determination and willingness to learn.
Looking Ahead
Next week we’ll be taking the next step as we introduce wooden camans and helmets, giving players the opportunity to experience the game more like it’s played in training and matches.
To help keep costs down and make sure every child has the opportunity to take part safely, we're looking for donations of children's helmets. If you have an old helmet sitting in a cupboard, garage, or shed that is no longer being used, we would be incredibly grateful to give it a new home.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next Wednesday evening.

Last week at training, our players had the chance to try something a little special playing with traditional wooden camans 🏑
There was great excitement (and a few powerful swings!) as everyone got a feel for these beautifully crafted sticks. It was a fantastic way to connect with the roots of the game while building skills and confidence on the pitch.
A big thank you to DM Camans for supplying the sticks and giving our players this brilliant experience playing on grass.
If you would like your kids to join in please come along and give it a go.
