KBI-World Newsletter: 7/7/2026.

A huge congratulations goes to all the KBI-World elected members in Tamil Nadu.

This is a brief update on the State Election held on 05/07/26, at St. Alphonsa Arts & Science College. A total of 133 participants attended, and the organisers welcomed Vasant Shetty and Kashinath Nayak warmly. The election was conducted in a fair, transparent, and democratic manner.
The newly elected Executive Committee of Budokan Tamil Nadu consists of:

Overall, the election was a success, and the new team has been democratically chosen to lead Budokan in Tamil Nadu.

Youth Ambassador - KBI-England.

Kallum Battersby age 19 is a black belt, 1st Dan training under Simon Keegan (Head of KBI-England).
Kallum has studied Karate for over 12 years beginning in Sh*to Ryu, Genbukai where he trained under English Karate Federation Kata coach, J Mallalieu and attended numerous seminars with Kobudo master Fumio Demura. Kallum has also competed, winning gold medals in Europe for his Kata and Kobudo. He is an excellent technician with very strong basics and Kata.
Kallum is currently applying to be a police officer. Away from the Dojo he enjoys mountain bike racing.

I am pleased to introduce our two newly appointed Youth Ambassadors for KBI-World in Wales and the UK. They are:
Miss Sofia Perna (Shodan) and Mr Joseph Wallen (Nidan).

Sophie Pernal's bio:

"In karate, I like learning how to prepare for practical scenarios and helping to train others to improve their technique. I've been training with hanshi Mike Tan for over 9 years, and plan to continuing for many more years to come. I've always loved the hard work that goes into karate and with a good foundation then everything after that becomes more natural and you can only get better".

Joseph Wallen's Bio.

"I began my karate journey at the age of 6. I hold a 2nd dan black belt in KBI. I have represented KBI at national and international level winning gold medals in both kumite and kata. I enjoy self-defence and have started assisting my instructor/dad (Sensi Paul Wallen) in our club.
KBI has taught me discipline, respect, empathy and many more good qualities in growing up, which I have taken to University and workplace.
I look forward to working hard as a Young Ambassador and helping to shape KBI-World for future generations".
