Pat Curran - 24/05/2026

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Welsh Feathers Captain, Pat Curran. Pat represented Wales with incredible pride, achieving an extraordinary 48 caps and competing on the world stage at two Netball World Cups.

Pat earned her first cap in an international match against England on 18 March 1978. She went on to represent Wales in the 6th Netball World Cup, hosted by Singapore in 1983. Pat later competed in her second World Cup as part of the 7th Netball World Cup squad, hosted by Scotland in 1987, where she played an impressive 12 matches.

Her commitment, talent and dedication to the sport made a lasting impact on Welsh netball. Her legacy will continue to be felt across the netball community for years to come.

Our thoughts are with Pat’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her at this difficult time.

Welsh history made ✅

Deeside Netball Club make history with a landmark Welsh promotion to the England Netball Premier League.

Led by Head Coach Trish Sterling and co‑captains Evie Brereton and Lois Hough, Deeside secured their place in Premier League 3 after a standout weekend at the England Netball Premier League Play‑Offs.

Deeside Netball Club, founded in 1979 by Merle Hamilton , is one of the largest and longest‑established clubs in Wales, with a strong track record of developing players who go on to represent Wales at age‑group and senior level.

💬 Head Coach Trish Sterling said: “This promotion is a testament to the hard work and belief of the players, coaches and volunteers across Deeside Netball. It also shows young athletes in Wales that it is possible to progress from local club netball all the way through to competing in national league competition. We are incredibly proud to be the first Welsh team to achieve this and excited to represent Wales on the Premier League".

Massive congratulations to everyone involved ❤️

What young people say they play at school really matters 🏫🏐

The Sport Wales School Sport Survey takes place every four years and will be taking place this year in schools from 13 April to 17 July.

Schools receive individualised links to complete the online survey with their pupils, and the results will help schools understand what children do, what they would like more of, what they enjoy and how they feel in and around sport.

The outcomes also help inform funding for grassroots sport, including netball. School netball feeds our clubs, our regions and our national teams and that’s why the Sport Wales School Sport Survey matters so much.

Let’s make sure netball is clearly seen, valued and represented.💙 and let's choose NETBALL on the School Sport Survey.
