What a brilliant day at Insole Court yesterday! 🚲☀️

A massive thank you to everyone who came down to the Cycle Day Community Event. It was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you engaging with us and our amazing local partners!

Huge shoutout to Workhorse for leading the morning ride-out, Pedal Power for bringing their accessible trikes, and Dr Bike from Cardiff Cycle Workshop for keeping everyone moving. With Ding Tours also out on the road, the community spirit was off the charts. 🛠️👏

VICTORY! 🎉 Cardiff’s bike hangars are getting cheaper and multiplying! 🚲✨

When the first cycle hangars rolled out in April, we were thrilled—until we saw the price tag. At £120 a year, they were the most expensive in the UK (while a car permit for the same space was just £35!).

We knew this wasn't fair, so we campaigned hard. We told the Council that high prices lock out residents who need cheap, sustainable transport the most.

Today, Cardiff Council announced they have listened to Cardiff Cycle City! They are slashing the prices to make secure bike storage affordable for everyone, AND they’re rolling out even more hangars because the scheme has been such a massive success! 🙌

This is what people power looks like. Huge thanks to Cllr Dan De'ath for engaging with us, and to every single one of you who supported our campaign. Together, we are making Cardiff the best cycling city in the UK. 💚

A new poll conducted this week by YouGov has discovered that 84% of people in the UK can't tell the difference between a perfectly legal e-bike and one that contravenes the laws that surround such machines in the UK.

The existence of illegal and dangerous e-bikes on the roads – and in people’s homes and garages – is a disaster for everyone, with fast, heavy bikes vastly increasing the risk of serious injury when they’re involved in collisions (which also drives anti-cyclist hate), and dodgy batteries causing intense fires during the recharging process.

Some people actively seek out bikes that can go faster than legally permitted, but other consumers are caught out by a poorly policed industry, and accidentally purchase bikes that fall foul of the legal guidelines. Would you be able to tell the difference? The vast majority of us can’t.

To combat this situation, two influential main cycle industry bodies – the Bicycle Association (BA) and the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT) – have launched a new safety trustmark, E-Bike Positive, with the goal of helping the public purchase e-bikes that are legal and safe.
