Words from the crew!

First up, Gisele shares how getting stronger isn’t always about doing more.

Sometimes, the biggest change happens when you become more consistent with the things you’re already doing.

When Gisele started competing in powerlifting, she wanted what most strength athletes want.

To get stronger.
To lift bigger numbers.
To see what she was capable of.

But getting there wasn’t going to come from constantly pushing harder in the gym.

It meant looking at everything surrounding her training too.

Her consistency.
Her habits.
How she approached sessions when motivation wasn’t there.
And learning to trust that doing the boring things well, week after week, would eventually add up.

And they have.

In just 11 months of competing, Gisele has moved into a lighter weight class while continuing to get stronger.

But the part I’m most proud of isn’t what she weighs or even what’s on the bar.

It’s the athlete she’s becoming in the process.

She’s more consistent.
More confident in her training.
Her habits outside of the gym are better and sustainable.
And she’s learning that progress doesn’t disappear just because one session doesn’t go perfectly.

That’s the part of coaching you don’t always see in a programme.

Yes, I’m here to help you get stronger.

But I’m also here to help you build the habits, confidence and mindset that allow you to keep getting stronger long after the initial motivation wears off.

Because a programme can tell you what to lift.

Good coaching helps you become the athlete capable of doing something with it.

If you’re tired of trying to piece everything together yourself and you want someone in your corner for more than just sets and reps, DM me “COACHING” and let’s chat. MM

Everybody starts somewhere.

Some people are learning how to hold the barbell for the first time.

Some are taking a step back, stripping the weight down and sharpening the positions they know need work.

And some are trying something completely new, simply because learning is fun.

None of those people are behind.

Because progress does not always look like adding more weight on the bar, running faster every week or losing weight every day.

Sometimes it looks like slowing down enough to understand what your body is doing.

Sometimes it means returning to your basics.

Sometimes it is having the courage to be a beginner again and accepting that you will not be brilliant at something straight away.

Every person you see at the gym had to learn where to put their hands, how to move their feet and what all those strange weightlifting words meant.

No one skipped that stage.

You have to keep showing up for it.

That is where confidence comes from. It’s not from already knowing everything, but from being willing to learn, practice and try again.

So whether you are starting from scratch, relearning your foundations or adding another skill to your toolbox, you belong in the room.

You do not need to be good enough before you begin.

Starting now is how you get good.

I’m currently offering five FREE taster sessions at PB Gym Cambridge. This is for anyone who wants support taking that first step.

DM me the word “TASTER” and let’s chat about how we can get you that first step.

Hello! I’m Dani, a Strength and Fitness coached based at PB Gym Cambridge (at Copley Hill Business Park near The Gog Farm Shop!)

I specialise in olympic weightlifting and in helping beginners learn the sn**ch and clean & jerk, as well as supporting people who want to feel stronger and more confident in the gym.

I know weightlifting can look intimidating from the outside. The movements seem technical, everyone looks experience, and it can feel like you need to be strong before you even begin.

But you don’t need previous experience or a certain level of strength to get started. My job is to meet you where you are, break everything down into manageable steps, and give you the support and encouragement you need to keep progressing.

To help you take that first step, I am offering 5 FREE TASTER SESSIONS. This offer is available until Sunday 16 August. Spaces are super limited and this will not last long.

If you’re ready to get stronger, learn Olympic Weightlifting, or simply feel more confident in the gym, comment the word “TASTER” and let’s chat about what coaching could look like for you.

If your cue is “tight lats” “feel your lats” “keep it close to your body”, but you can’t seem to consistently find or feel your lats, you might wanna use reinforcements 👀

One of my favourite drills for teaching this cue is a banded deadlift.

Using a resistance band as a CONSTRAINT for deadlifts gives you immediate feedback on your setup.

To do this, wrap a moderate resistance band in the middle of the bar and anchor it to a dumbbell.

There should be tension on the band in your set up so you can feel the resistance from start to finish.

If you lose tension, let the bar drift away, or switch off through your lats once you’re past the knees, the band will let you know straight away.

Pull harder is not the goal.

It’s to stay consistently tight before the bar leaves the floor.

I want you to create a position where you’re:
âś” Connected with the bar
âś” Building tension before the lift starts
âś” Maintaining pressure through the floor
âś” Keeping the bar close from the very first pull

A good lift starts with the quality of your setup.

Have you ever used this variation before??

I’m sharing something a little more personal today because this journey has given me so much clarity

Seven weeks ago, I shared my competition prep plan to keep myself accountable. Now, with just three weeks to go, I wanted to share one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way not just in my competition prep, but in other areas of my life too

I’d love to know if any of this resonates with you🫰🏽🫰🏽
