I might never have become a Pilates teacher if I hadn’t found my first class in a Quaker Meeting House in Dorset.
That’s stuck with me, because community spaces aren’t just buildings, they’re where people find their way in. A noticeboard next to English classes, a choir, a knitting circle. Somewhere familiar enough to try something new.
So instead of teaching from a polished studio, you’ll find my classes in the village halls and community spaces around Bristol. No intimidation, no “do I belong here” just Pilates, for every body and every stage of life.
Pregnancy, postnatal, complete beginner, or years of practice, you’re welcome. All you need is a mat and something comfy to move in.
New to Pilates? DM me to book your £5 taster.
Classes in Shirehampton, Horfield and the surrounding areas.

He said it’s rare that instructors remember.
I think that should be the standard, not the exception.

I’m back from the Lakes! ⛴️🦆And what a lovely part of the world.
As I did some challenging climbs, over stiles, stepping stones across streams and along narrow hill top paths, I was reminded daily to have gratitude for my body and my health and how my Pilates supports me in enjoying life.
Why do we do Pilates anyway? We can sometimes get swept up in how we follow the Pilates system, our ex*****on of the movements, and how our classes flow. Ultimately Pilates is a system created for supporting us in enjoying better health and quality of life.
My passion for Pilates comes from knowing Pilates gives joy not just in sessions, but really does enable people to pursue happiness in their lives day to day.
Joseph Pilates felt our physical fitness was not just about ‘attainment’ but also ‘maintenance’… (aiming for life) so we are ‘fully capable of naturally, easily and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure”
This could be climbing a hill, carrying our shopping, riding a bike, or just leaving the house easily walking down the road to see a friend.
We’re back to classes next week on a reduced schedule. Let me know how you’ve felt the benefits of your Pilates practice in the comments or if you have any new goals for the coming season.

Don’t skip that c-curve!
Swipe to see the video layers →
Why do we work through layers? Because it’s important to get the fundamentals of a movement down first.
Side teaser - similar to a full teaser, it’s about working through the C-curve until lifting and open at our top line into a teaser V.
A beautiful blend of strength and spinal mobility. The spinal flexion is really important to performing this movement safely.
A few weeks ago I saw a new person start by pulling up into a side teaser with a straight back, straight legs, and free arms - definitely not curving! Particularly with straight legs, this places even more load on the spine. We need to work with spinal flexion for this move.
Please keep listening to guidance from your teacher - there’s a reason we work through layers.
Side teaser isn’t my ‘best’ move... but here’s a series of demo videos of the way we can practice: coming up from side lying with bent legs into our side teaser, practicing our ‘curl’ with support and guidance from our side arm, until we can release and bring the arm and eye line up, balancing in our side ‘V’.
Let me know how you get on!

Started at 8 weeks postpartum with little Pilates experience and a core rebuilding from pregnancy and a C-section. Three terms later: less back and neck pain, better posture, and more strength and confidence than ever before 💪
No judgement, no pressure, just a supportive space to move, breathe, and reconnect with your body at your own pace (babies welcome).
Wishing you all the best as you head back to work, we’ll miss you in class!
