Before the games for this Saturday here are the POTMs from last week. Peter Strikes Again! Peter’s 61 and 4-28 secure his MOTM for the first team for the 3rd week in a row. 4 teams in action this weekend 1s are hosting hailsham the 2s away to linfield with Jack abela returning and G Gabriele making a debut for them. The 3s are away to burgess hill. And the most exciting news of the season josh is making is playing his first Saturday of the summer.

Yesterday evening our ladies scored a decisive victory over Lewes in the Slam, to complete two wins in three days. Batting first we again piled on a decent total, Katharine again brilliant with the bat 49 no, Ruby 33 and Elliot demonstrated their super progress with a 10 not out, including shot of the evening that made coach very happy. As a team we bowled and fielded superbly, bodies were put on the line, Sam especially with the bruises to show for it, Sonja excellent on the boundary, and Lewes were always behind the curve. Another great win. On we march.

Ashok leads Smugglers to a another victory in his final smugglers game of the season. As they win in style, again.

Not another one! The Windmill Warriors win again last night against Lewes. Well done to all involved! Here are a few words from manager Mark:

Thankfully back to a 10pm kick off! After last Sunday’s ridiculous kick off time we are back showing the England Game at the club. Plan of action. Play cricket (get your availability in before tonight). Social with games (bring coins). Watch Football. Raiders are welcome to watch but under 16s need to be accompanied by an appropriate adult. Nets are also on tonight so please join us from 6pm.

Women complete the double over Crowhurst Park!! Here are a few words from manager Mark: “Batting first, Katharine and Kaia making a fast start with the boundary being regularly found by both batters. After Kaia fell for 24, Sam helped keep up the momentum while Katharine again reached 40 and another unbeaten retirement. SJ chipped in with singles, nicely rotating the strike and when Sam was out LBW she was replaced by daughter Ruby who launched a blistering 36 run attack to take us to an excellent 136/3.

We made a shaky start with the ball, conceding more than 50 runs off the first 4 overs, and at that point our huge total was suddenly not looking big enough. However we kept chipping away with wickets at key points, and with Yasmin reeling off 4 tight overs we started to take control. As we gained the upper hand B Holdsworth-O’Donnell, SJ and E Harrison bowled really well after the turnaround, and even though their skipper played an excellent knock, we won with 17 runs to spare.

So our second win in the Slam, an excellent batting performance, and great spirit and composure to turn things around when the pressure was building. As ever, proud of them all and the progress they are making. Coach.”

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

The next Slam game will be hosted at the Dean on Tuesday the 7th July at 6pm Vs Lewes. A win and were through to the next stage of the Slam competition. Please come and support our ladies in their pursuit of history! Bar and facilities open for the evening!!

4 great games from this Saturday!! The 1st hosted a strong Lindfield side at the Dean which saw a huge 291 from the 45 overs including 4 fiftys congrats to George, George, Sean and Pete (sponsored by Bullistic Cricket ) Peter’s 4 - 28 puts him a strong position to win MOTM for the third week in a row. The 2s were left with a difficult run chase at Barcombe and replied with an impressive 226 with runs for Jonjo, Tyler, Phil and Chris. The 3rds get a comprehensive win over Henfield with runs for numbers 4, 5 and 7! The real win came with the bowl and in the field where the team were immaculate. Congrats to Tom (sponsored by Harvey's Brewery , Tim and G Gabriele with the ball. The 4ths might have performance of the weekend though winning by 9 wickets with runs for Robbie and M Dunk as well another 4 wicket hall for Lorne. A really cracking weekend of cricket well done all involved!
