Only 3 teams this Saturday with the 4s finishing for the season with a rained off game last week ☔️

1️⃣The 1s travel to Lindfield, we welcome back Director of Cricket Sean after a few weeks in South Africa 🇿🇦
2️⃣The 2s host Barcombe at the Dean. After a Jeffrey Father Son duo masterclass last week they look to do the same again for the 2s. We also welcome back fan favourite Jim Deverall
3️⃣The 3s have a must win relegation scrap against Henfield. Cricket is rarely simple but on this occasion the winner stays up and the loser goes down there’s no other outcomes. We welcome back N Kwong after a few weeks away!

Great to have each team propped up by a Dye this week! Good luck all teams!

No games yesterday gives us a chance to highlight our Players of the Match from last week!

1️⃣Peter Bonar (sponsored by Bullistic Cricket) strikes again with another POTM performance. Taking wickets and a catch as well as some runs
2️⃣The Rain yesterday statically secured the 2s place in Div 6 again next season. Last week’s 10 wicket win could have seen multiple POTM performances including Jonjo 75*, Josh Woolcott 53*, James Withey 3-36 and C Caridia 2 - 20 off 8 overs. But E Tarrant’s bowling was the highlight of the day bowling 8 overs 2 maidens 4-21!
3️⃣The 3s had a tough day out but Kim’s quick 28 helped us get up to a respectable score
4️⃣Performances of the week goes to B Jeffrey and Y Pattenden both playing alongside proud fathers watching on. Ben, who batting alongside his father Andy got to 85* including 16 4s matching patience with aggression at the right times to play a composed and dominating knock. The father son duo put on a 50 partnership as well! While Y Pattenden dominated the bowling innings with the most impressive figures we’ve seen at Rottingdean this season! 5.1 overs 3 maidens 4 wickets for just 6 runs at an economy of just 1.16!!! It’s been fantastic to see how well Y Pattenden and all of the Windmill Warriors have done this season and wonderful to see this hard work at play on a Saturday as well.

It’s also great to see 3 juniors in the POTM awards this week! We now look towards next week the final game of the season!

Here we have the 4 teams stepping out for Rottingdean CC tomorrow the 29th August. Well hopefully stepping out we will have to see what the weather brings come tomorrow morning ☔️

1️⃣The 1st look to do the double over Bexhill playing at home
2️⃣The 2s travel away to Balcombe looking to make it two on the bounce
3️⃣The 3s continue their relegation scrap this week against Brighton Malayalee Association
4️⃣The 4s compete in the battle of the windmills looking to go 3 straight victories

Another mixed week the 1s had a hard loss to rye away letting them just get away at the end of the first innings giving them a hard chase on a hard wicket. The 2s has a deserved win with the youngster e tarrent taking 4-21 and Josh and Jonjo but on a unbeaten 140 run partnership.
The threes had a tough day losing to palmers away. And the fours had a good win over lewes with b Jeffrey getting 85 and a withey taking 2 wickets.

POTMS for the 15th August

1️⃣ A tied vote leads to 2 POTMs for the 1st XI. George Ledden and S Hardwick both scoring runs opening
2️⃣J O’Callaghan’s five wicket haul means he sails to POTM for the 2s
4️⃣Tony Gilbert built a great opening partnership alongside skipper Mark for the 4s! The 4s put in a huge team performance on Saturday so any of 11 players could have been POTM. Congratulations to Tony

Our very own u13 girls I Huntley, E Heath and M Ledden who are currently in the Sussex Pathway and improving their game with each season!

We look forward tracking their progress this season and beyond. The sky is the limit at RCC! Sussex Cricket

A weekend of close games!

1️⃣ The first narrowly miss out against Mayfield going down to the last over. With high scores for both Ledden’s and superstar S Hardwick. Congratulations also to Abhi for another 3 wickets which brings his total to 8 in 2 weeks
2️⃣The 2s put on a good score chasing down a high total from Poynings. This game also saw 3 innings over 40 this time for George, Rory and Jonjo. Massive congratulations also to J O’Callaghan for his five wicket haul! Club legend Tim picks up 2 alongside always great O Burrows with 1
3️⃣The 3s put in a mega effort with the ball to get Hadlow Down, 6 down chasing 95. Congrats to John Hobbs with the bat and Kim Willcocks with the ball
4️⃣The 4s also have a close game, this time falling in our favour. As Lewes Priory fall 11 runs short of the total. Captain Mark was in with the runs alongside Tony and MD. Some fantastic economies with the ball from Lorne, Jonny, M Thomas, B McGuirk, W Heffernan Moss, MD, S Withey and F Funnell who all helped secured the win!

All 4 teams back in action this Saturday so get your availability in on Spond!
