🏊‍♂️We had our FIRST EVER internal swim gala!🏊‍♀️⏱️🎉

We held an Out To Swim Brighton internal swim gala, organised by captain Emre, and we had a brilliant time.

The event was a chance to race with friends, get some times and have a bit of fun, all without the pressure of a proper competition. There were plenty of the classics, with freestyle, breaststroke and fly, plus some swimmers taking on the start blocks. And there was the seagull race! 🐦

The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed and by the end, there was already talk of doing it twice a year. We’ll take that as a pretty good review!

A massive thank you to Emre for organising it, and to everyone who helped out with timing and making it all happen.

And a special thank you to Boo for taking these brilliant photos and video during the event 📸💙

💗💜💙 Happy Bisexual Visibility Day! 💙💜💗

Today we’re celebrating our bi swimmers, because bisexuality is real, valid and definitely not something that disappears just because you’re in a relationship.

Bi people can sometimes find themselves having to explain their sexuality more than they’d like.

“No, I’m not confused.”

“No, I’m not just going through a phase.”

“No, I haven’t picked a side.”

And no, being in a relationship with someone of one gender doesn’t magically uninstall the bisexuality.

That’s why visibility matters. Bisexual people are often underrepresented or misunderstood, and stereotypes can make an already diverse community feel invisible. Seeing bisexuality openly represented and celebrated helps challenge those assumptions and reminds people that there’s no single way to be bi.

Whether you’re with Out To Swim for the PBs, the post-swim socials or simply because you enjoy swimming with a bunch of q***r people, you belong here. 🏳️‍🌈

💗💜💙 Bi swimmers: what’s one thing you wish more people understood about bisexuality?

Next up in our Meet the Committee series is Mel our Pride Coordinator.

If you enjoyed seeing us at Trans Pride and Brighton Pride this year, you have Mel to thank! 💜

There’s a LOT that goes on behind the scenes to make Pride happen. Things like council paperwork, finances, parade logistics - the van!, coordinating volunteers and making sure everything is ready for the big day. Mel has been working hard all year to make our Pride season such a success.

And it really was! 🎉

✨ We had a record turnout of Out to Swim members, allies and friends marching in the parade
✨ We raised more money than ever before, giving the club more funds to put towards next year’s events
✨ Mel organised not one, but two craft days, where members could get together to make Pride banners and bracelets 🎨
✨ She organised numerous meetups to practise our Pride dance 💃
✨ And she coordinated a brilliant team of volunteers who helped make it all happen!

So, a HUGE thank you to Mel and her team of helpers for all the time, energy and organisation put into making this year’s Pride season such a memorable one. We wouldn’t have had such a fantastic Pride without you! 🏳️‍🌈💖

And finally, every Pride Coordinator needs a suitable soundtrack…

Mel’s Hype Song? Like a Prayer  by Madonna 🎶

Because it wouldn't be Pride without a bit of Madonna!
