Brackla mixed touch rugby team

Friday we made the short trip to newbridge fields to play the knights/maidens
We played 3 games girls, men’s and mixed
The ladies were first and with a amazing defensive effort in the first half making it only 1-0 to the maidens but with a couple of quick try’s in the second half against us, the girls were unlucky not to score but never gave up brilliant to watch
The men went next with a tight game against a well drilled team with a lot of try’s back and forth it was fast paced game but the magpies were unlucky in the end losing 3-2
The mixed finished the night off and with the same theme started fast with both teams showing some good skills and some nice try’s scored by the boys and girls but just fell short again losing 6-5

No game Friday the magies have a week off

Good numbers and amazing effort in training last night keep up the good work

The magpies hosted a men’s game against Maesteg quins and a ladies team against the shield maidens
The men’s game didn’t start off to well with the quins scoring 3 interceptions but then settled in defence with Brackla coming back and scoring 2 try’s in the second period but a strong quins team never stopped and with some quick plays ran in a few more try’s
Score 9-3 to the quins

The ladies seemed to be be getting better and better every week and coming up with some good sets, they never stopped and never backed down against a young quick team and manger to score some nice trys as a team which was a pleasure to watch

The magpies travelled to Bryncethin for a 5 game round robin hosted by the strollers

First game against Bryncethin was tight with both defending well and Westy scoring the only try of the game 1-0
Second was neath with the coin toss going our way chose to play down hill, Lewis scoring 2 try’s and Lindsey scoring 1 making it 3-0
Britton ferry was the same as Bryncethin both teams struggling to score but with an inception from Roger broke the dead lock winning 1-0
The final game against the strollers felt like a final with both teams going in undefeated but with a strong strollers team and playing down hill saw them take the victory 3-0
Brilliant performance by all showing the difference from the start of the season to now keep up the good work

Brilliant family atmosphere and team spirit

Our male magpies travelled to pontydawe to play in the cwmtawe 7s tournament
The boys went up there with low numbers due to holidays and injuries but help from a couple of teams gave a us a chance to compete
They played 4 group games winning 1 drawing 1 and losing 2 but finished 3rd in their group which qualifies for the plate semifinal against Maesteg quins winning 2-1 in a tight game sending them to the final against the YOBs
The boys defence held strong throughout but the YOBs managed to get a score, the magpies struggled to get on to the score sheet with the YOBs running down the clock
Huge effort from the boys all day
