🔴 FRIDAY NIGHT MATCH REPORT 🔴

Gateshead Fell 2–9 Brandon Community FC

Back to league action for the Brandon lads tonight, with several players missing through injuries and holidays. That meant a few changes to the starting XI and gave several lads their first starts of the season. 👏

The game started in true Brandon fashion these days… we simply weren’t at the races! 😅 From the off, we didn’t look ourselves and after around 15 minutes, Gateshead took the lead to make it 1–0.

Probably the best thing that could have happened to us, though, as the lads finally clicked into gear and started showing exactly why we’re sitting top of the league. Some lovely football in spells followed, and we turned things around brilliantly to go into the break 1–4 up.

The second half was a much more settled performance. We looked calmer, moved the ball better and controlled the game a lot more.

Every sub got a good chunk of action tonight, and even Manager John Humphrey decided to roll back the years and get involved — leaving the crowd asking, “Is that Roberto Carlos out of retirement?” 🤣

It was a much more comfortable watch in the second half, with Gateshead getting another goal from the penalty spot, just like their first. But overall, the lads ran out comfortable 9–2 winners. 🔴👏

About time if you ask me! 😅 Ethan really put his foot in this game, producing some great forward passing for the lads and getting himself two goals in the process. And one of them was definitely worthy of another shout! 🔥

Jordan Blinco ✨
Stepped up today when we really needed a senior player to help guide our young team. Produced some moments of magic on the ball, slowed the tempo when needed and topped it off with a hat-trick.
Brilliant mate. Proper leader’s performance. 👏

Played more positions today that I even know existed! 🤣
But fair play to the lad — ran his socks off tonight and gave absolutely everything for the lads. That proper Brandon performance didn’t go unnoticed.

Talk about having a good debut!
The big lump at the back was flawless tonight. Headers, passing, defending — the lot. Even started looking like Maldini at times! 😂
A proper top-drawer performance at the back and thoroughly deserved the MOTM award.

Another win for the Brandon lads sees us make it 9 wins from 9 in the league — which is some start for a brand-new side! 🔥

Especially with so many changes to the line-ups along the way, and now seeing the youth of Brandon breaking into the squad with young Cole getting his opportunity. 👏

We really appreciate all the support from everyone who continues to follow our football journey it’s massively appreciated.

🔴 SATURDAY MATCH REPORT 🔴

Durham County Cup – First Round

We hosted Durham today at the Whippet Pitch in the first round of the Durham County Cup, and here’s how it panned out! 👇

1st Half 🙈

Well, all I can really say is that the young Durham team really put us to shame in the first half. They outworked us all over the park, and the desire to win was clearly with Durham.

Their first goal was a good 5 metres offside, but nevertheless, the Durham lads deserved their lead going into half time.

Half Time: Brandon 0–2 Durham

2nd Half 🔴

A good few changes at half time saw the lads and the subs fired up for it, and what a response they gave!

The first goal came from a long throw, with Robbie heading home to get us back in the game. Then came a beauty of a goal from Blinco to bring us level at 2–2!

From there, the game looked like it was only going one way, with Brandon pushing for the win — and the lads went on to get exactly that.

Robbie then grabbed the final two goals to complete his hat-trick and seal a 4–2 victory! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Full Time: Brandon 4–2 Durham

We had to work incredibly hard for this one, with the Durham lads working non-stop from start to finish. Credit where credit is due — they gave us a proper game today and deserve a lot of credit. 👏

Overall, a game of two halves today, but a win is a win, and it sees our unbeaten run continue! 🔥

Solid at the back today, winning his headers and keeping it simple as he plays his last game for a while before going into surgery, which will unfortunately see him out for a long period of the season.

A different player when he’s up top, in my opinion. A constant threat when he’s playing through the middle, bullying defenders and doing what he does best — getting us goals!

This one’s for his second-half performance! Came out a new player after the break, grafting, breaking up play and doing all the gritty stuff every team needs.

Outstanding when the lad came on today!
Work rate was outstanding, balls into the box, beating his man and really setting the tone for the rest of the team.
He made a huge impact when he came on and really stood up when we needed it.
Fully deserved MOTM today. 🏆👏

They showed the fight and energy that we needed and once again showed why we have such a strong squad. ❤️

Match Report..

1st half:
Brandon came out of the blocks very strong, scoring 2 within 15 minutes. As the half went on, I think we felt very comfortable. However, we did concede 1 before the halftime whistle when their forward tapped into the net from 3 yards out, shouting "Siuuu!" 🤣🙈 Might have accepted it if you scored a decent goal or were winning 🤣, nevertheless, we will not take away a grown man’s childhood dream.
Halftime: 4-1

Second half:
Again, Brandon felt comfortable throughout the half, creating chances, but complacency cost us goals, which makes it look like a much closer game than it was. Credit to Durham, though—they took their chances when they came.

Game finished 7-4, which is a crazy scoreline that sees us in the hat for the next round of the Washington Aged People’s Trophy.

Special Mentions

Cameron Isted: Finishing was on point today and he even got himself a first-half hat-trick! Caused the Durham lads issues constantly, which sees Mr. Gump add to his tally 👏

Jonathan Davies: Great to see the rapid Juggernaut finally on the pitch after more than 10 years away from the game! Work rate was great when he came on and he got himself a goal from a tidy finish. Improving each game, now he just needs to get a bit of stamina 🤣. Well done, mate 👏

Ethan Rawlinson 🏆: Dictated the play just in front of the defence today. Some great passing and always putting our forwards into action. Top display, mate, well done 👏

🔴 SATURDAY MATCH REPORT 🔴

1st Half:
I don’t really know where to start! 🤣 We scored so many goals it was hard to keep count. Nevertheless, East Durham managed to score two beauty goals to see us go into half-time 9–2.

2nd Half:
The second half started pretty much the same as the first. We continued pressing, playing some great football and creating plenty of chances.

I think the hardest part of a game like this is keeping the standards high, which is always a challenge when the scoreline starts to get a little silly. The game eventually finished 17–2.

In all honesty, it could have been a lot more! 🙈😅 Nevertheless, a win is a win, and it’s always a challenge to keep the standards high when the scoreline gets a bit silly.

Once again, we had a great turnout from the fans! We even managed to sell a football card, which helps the club out massively.

This one isn’t for what we all expect! 🤣 The lad had a great game, but the highlight was definitely the miss of the season so far! Hitting the moon from five yards out! 🤣 Just a tap-in will do, mate! 🤣👍🏼

Kane Winn:
Came on in the second half and, fair play to the lad, he can’t do much but he can deffo take a set piece!!… the lad managed to get around six assists from corners! 😂👏🏼 Some achievement that!

Robbie Murray:
Scoring for fun today and finishing and assisting like it was a breeze! He even managed a hat-trick of headers, which is some achievement! 👏🏼 Add MOTM to the list and it was some performance from the skipper! 🤴🏆

WEDNESDAY NIGHT MATCH REPORT 🔴

1ST HALF

The lads started really well, playing some lovely, slick football — it has to be said!

We broke the deadlock around the 15-minute mark and looked very much in control of the game. Whitburn did manage to pull one back before half time with a decent goal, but we went into the break 3-1 up.

2ND HALF

We started brilliantly, scoring within the first 17 seconds of the second half! ⚡

As the game went on, it turned into an entertaining watch, with Whitburn continuing to push us right until the final whistle. However, overall, I think the quality of the lads, combined with the impact of the substitutes coming on, was just too much for them.

The game finishes 7-1 to Brandon, meaning our winning streak continues! 🔥

A massive shout-out to the 17 loyal Brandon fans who made the journey to support the lads! It genuinely doesn’t go unnoticed. ❤️🔴

Kane Winn / Liam Harland 🧤🧤

Both lads had a spell in net tonight and did themselves proud!

Kane looked like he was stuck in quicksand coming out for one, but somehow pulled off the save of the night — even Hannant wouldn’t have stopped it! 😂

And Harland! Came on and produced a proper Kevin De Bruyne-esque pass to assist Cameron for his goal. Top stuff from both lads! 👏

Lloyd McGee

I’m getting sick of mentioning this lad! 😂

But, in all fairness, you simply can’t ignore what he does on the pitch. He breaks up play, keeps things ticking and makes the simple stuff look better than anyone.

Absolutely solid in the middle of the park tonight.
