“what supplements should I actually take, and do they even work?”
I get asked this almost every day at the gym.
There’s too much secondhand gym gossip / Chinese whispers and bro-science floating around the gyms these as it is.
Here is what I learnt many years ago whilst studying is a plain-English breakdown of EAAs, energy, and muscle repair: I tried to simplify it for you.
• EAAs = The 9 building blocks your body needs from food to repair muscle.
• Leucine = The “light switch” that starts the repair process (quality food already has this).
• Krebs Cycle = How your cells turn food into energy to train.
• The Truth = Supplements are just tools, not magic. You still need proper food, smart training, and good recovery.

when starting any exercise with weights, I always recommend a good few warm ups for example: 3 sets of 10–12 reps with strict form, good control, and a weight you can truly manage whilst imagining that it’s heavier.
Why? Because in sports coaching and as in business, you never rush the foundation.
• In business: You don’t scale operations until your core systems run with total control.
• In athletics: You don’t load maximum weight until your movement mechanics are bulletproof.
• In your training: You build muscular tension and joint longevity by executing every rep with intention, not momentum.
Lifting lighter with precision will always build more muscle—and prevent more setbacks—than lifting heavy with poor ex*****on. It’s all about being patient given the season that you are in.
Master the baseline. Own the control. The results will follow.

Don’t put off what you can do today is what my grandad used to say. I never met my grandad. He died before I was born but his words still carry weight today.

“Life is what you make it “ is what my mum used to tell me growing up.
“You just have to just get up and go”
One 45 minutes drive later and I’m I and having a cuppa tea with her for one of the best hours I’ve had in ages, a 45 minutes drive back and she’s worth that drive !!!
Still rebuilding up the running and swimming.
A run indoors due to the change of weather, The run was mainly at Pace 7.55. Big fans to keep the run cool.
The swim was 10 mins Continuous breaststroke and I just got in as many lengths as possible before the pool closed ( was a late one).

Most people aren’t failing their nutrition because of a lack of discipline. They’re failing because they’re operating without a clear number.
Nutrition isn’t about restriction or cutting out social occasions—it’s about having a workable budget.
When you understand your baseline and manage your intake across the entire week rather than obsessing over a single day, you create structure without sacrificing your lifestyle.
