Our incredibly successful U16s squad is stepping up to take on U18 rugby from 2027 – and we’ve got places available for new players!

A number of our lads are moving on to take up academy opportunities with professional clubs, so we’re looking to strengthen our group ahead of the new season.

We will be doing announcements for the players moving on 🔵⚪️ we also have a number of players who have turned down professional contracts to stay with Birky u18s so the team is shaping up nicely.

- Players looking for a fresh start after being released from a scholarship programme
- Anyone wanting to play competitive rugby in a well-structured, expertly coached environment

Great to see the U11's going from strength to strength great work by Jonathan Mark Fawthrop in pulling the team back together.

💙🤍 Birkenshaw Bluedogs u11’s 2026 💙🤍, end of summer fixtures today, and the players have knocked it outta the park week in and week out, to say I’m proud would be an understatement, roll on the winter fixtures 💙🤍

Massively proud of our u16s in their challenge cup final today 8-8 all at full time but unfortunately Lock Lane got the drop goal in golden point to take the game 9-8

What an effort, the Birky team defended for their lives and kept pushing forward.

Both teams put their bodies in line and worked hard. So many special players on that field today. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

Birlenshaw u18’s girls V Shaw Cross u18’s girls

Birkenshaw hosted local rivals shaw cross in a very entertaining game Tuesday night at East Bierley
A big effort was needed to get the game on before with the first use of the new grass pitch and great fully Shaw Cross assisted in filling in the pesky rabbit holes before ko
The first 20 mins of the game was close with both sides completing there sets with hardly any mistakes or penalties before the deadlock was broken by the rampaging lolah vianikolo charging in for a 4 pointer
From the ko shaw cross worked hard and were reward with a converted try to take it to 4-6
Good pressure and field position enabled Martha to score a great try, converted by Imogen to take the half time score to 10-6
The second half ko and was a tense affair, shaw cross pushed the Birky defence for 2 repeat sets and managed to get over in the corner against a tired Birky defence to take the score to 10-10.
In the last 20 Birky worked hard and when Aneesha intercepted a pass she didn’t have the legs to finish and when the supporting Scarlett was pulled back off the ball, which the ref missed, stopped what would have been a certain try
Tempers began to fray and an all in brawl threatened to ruin an entertaining game. From the resulting penalty Neeve was held inches short with good work from the shaw cross defence from what looked a certain try
In the dying minutes a draw looked to be the result until the impressive Martha bust through to score the winning try 14-10.
An entertaining feisty game between two committed sides who are still all friends off the field (I think!) with player of the match going to Martha for her none stop full match performance in both attack and defence.
Special mention too to Poppy and Lilly Collins who really had a go and got stuck in, both playing more minutes than usual and showing so much improvement as the season has played out 💙🤍
