Own your role - Too many solopreneurs think of themselves as “just” freelancers, side-hustlers, or people with a little business.
Here’s the truth: You’re not just running a business - you are leading one.
Truly owning your role is about more than confidence. It’s about taking yourself seriously before anyone else does.
You get to define your version of success, you get to be the boss you need, you get to run your business as a CEO, not an employee of your clients.
When you step into ownership, everything changes - your boundaries, your pricing, your decisions.
So ask yourself: Am I leading my business, or is my business leading me?

AI can give you more things to do. The right room can help you decide what actually matters.
I use AI in my business. I think it's an incredible tool.
I can ask it for content ideas, help me organise my thoughts, analyse something or suggest different ways of approaching a problem.
But I've also noticed something.
We now have access to more answers than we've EVER had before.
You can type “How do I grow my business?” into AI and have a beautifully organised action plan in seconds.
But what if the problem isn't that you don't have enough ideas?
What if you're already thinking:
“I've finally got an hour to work... what should I do first?”
“I'm worried I'm not doing enough.”
“I'm carrying my whole business around in my head.”
Do you really need another list? 🤔
Because there are some things AI simply can't replicate.
➡️ It can't sit across from another business owner who says, “I've been there too.”
➡️ It can't create the conversation where someone asks a question that completely
changes how you're looking at something.
➡️ It can't introduce you to your next collaborator or cheer when you finally do the thing you've been talking yourself out of for months.
➡️ And it can't give you that feeling of walking into a room and realising you don't have to be the strong one with all the answers today.
Technology can be an incredible part of our support system. But it can't BE our support system.
That's why I think human business communities matter more than ever.
During The Cocoon Open House from 21-25 September, I'm inviting you to step away from doing everything behind your laptop and come into the room with us.
Bring your ideas, questions, wobbles and half-formed thoughts.
You don't need another perfect answer.
Sometimes you just need other humans to think alongside you.
Comment OPEN HOUSE and I'll send you the free registration details.

Right. Schools back tomorrow for us.
I need to get my biz mojo fully back and stop taking Netflix breaks every hour 🤪
I do love this time of year - new term, new year feeling, and the promise of upcoming pumpkin spiced lattes and twinkly lights in the run up to Christmas - anyone else?! 😆

You can be the CEO without being the whole boardroom.
I think this is something we need to talk about more when it comes to running a business on your own.
Yes, you're the decision-maker.
But does that mean you should have to come up with every idea, solve every problem, make every decision and talk yourself through every wobble entirely on your own?
I don't think so.
One of the phrases I hear again and again from women in business is: “Everything rests on me.”
And technically, when it's your business, a lot DOES rest on you.
But there's a huge difference between taking ownership of your business and feeling like you have to figure everything out alone.
✨Sometimes you need someone to bounce an idea off.
✨Someone who asks the question you hadn't thought of.
✨Someone who has tried something similar and can share what happened.
✨Someone who remembers what you said you wanted and gently asks whether what you're doing is actually taking you towards it.
✨And sometimes you simply need to be able to say, “Business feels really hard this week” to people who understand what you mean.
That's one of the things I value most about belonging to a business community.
It isn't about handing over responsibility for your decisions.
It's about having people in the room while you make them.
That's a very different thing.
And it's something AI, another course or another hour spent Googling simply can't replicate.
During The Cocoon Open House from 21-25 September, you'll get to experience that for yourself. You'll meet our members, have conversations, share ideas, ask questions and experience what it feels like to have other women in your corner.
You might be a solopreneur. But you don't have to build your business in isolation.

You don't need to do more things.
You need 20 uninterrupted minutes.
Not another planner or productivity hack.
Just 20 minutes where someone asks you better questions than you've been asking yourself.
Because here's what I've noticed...
When women tell me they're overwhelmed, they often think they need to get more organised.
But what I have found changes things is finally having the space to stop reacting and think clearly.
To ask:
What's actually slowing my business down?
What does my business need from me right now?
What can I stop carrying?
Those questions are surprisingly hard to answer on your own.
That's why I've created the Life-Friendly CEO Reset.
It's not another workbook to download and forget about.
It's a free 20-minute guided experience where I'll walk you through it, step by step.
You'll pause, reflect, complete your workbook as we go, and by the end you'll have something so many women tell me they've been craving: Clarity.
If your business has been taking up far too much headspace lately, I'd love you to spend 20 minutes with me.

August is supposed to be the quiet month in business, isn't it? 😆
I've spent a big chunk of mine travelling around China with my family, while deliberately stepping back from my business.
And yet I've just been pulling together our August roundup for The Cocoon and couldn't quite believe how much has been happening inside the community while I've been away...
Over the past month, members have...
✨ Published a book and sold their first 22 copies.
✨ Had two sell-out weeks AND record booking income.
✨ Grown coaching income by more than 10% year on year while reducing delivery time by more than 30%.
✨ Turned a prospective client who kept asking for free advice into a paid project by holding their boundaries.
✨ Received a promising new enquiry while actually away on holiday, as a result of connections they'd made through voluntary work.
✨ Shipped the first order for a brand new product ahead of launch.
✨ Delivered a big work project in a capacity-led way rather than running themselves into the ground.
✨ Got back to creating content for their own business.
But some of my favourite updates weren't about money or traditional business milestones at all.
There were members deliberately taking proper time away from technology. Managing client expectations so they could switch off. Protecting their boundaries. Using their CEO Time to stay focused around the school holidays. Asking the community for help with decisions rather than sitting at home trying to figure everything out alone.
This is what life-friendly business growth looks like to me.
It's not about constantly doing more.
It's about having the clarity, support and confidence to keep moving your business forward while still having a life alongside it.
And if you've come out of the summer feeling like you've lost your business mojo a little, I've got something for you. 💜
From 21-25 September, I'm opening the doors to The Cocoon for our Open House, and you can join us for five days completely free.
We'll clear some of the mental clutter, plan the final quarter of 2026, network and get fresh perspectives on what's happening in your business, and I'll be teaching Become a Life-Friendly CEO: The habits, rhythms and roadmap behind a business that works with your life.
Think of it as your gentle September reset.
Come and experience the kind of support, conversations and community that normally happen behind closed doors inside The Cocoon.
I'd love to welcome you in. 💜

More isn't always the answer.
When Zoe came to work with me, she had plenty of ideas. The problem was trying to pursue too many of them at once.
She was overwhelmed and juggling multiple projects, so my job wasn't to give her another clever strategy to add to the list.
It was to help her work out what deserved her attention.
Zoe says our work together helped her "slow down, simplify, and focus on doing one thing really well". She went from feeling overwhelmed to heading into her launch feeling "clear and prepared".
And I think there's something really important in that.
We're surrounded by messages telling us what else we could be doing to grow our businesses. But every new idea takes time, energy and attention away from something else.
Part of becoming the CEO of your business is being able to look at all the possibilities and decide: what actually matters for me right now?
That doesn't mean you should never seek outside help. Zoe's story is a perfect example of why an outside perspective can be so valuable.
But good support shouldn't automatically give you more to do.
It should help you see more clearly what deserves your attention, and give you the confidence and accountability to follow through.
Because sometimes moving your business forward isn't about adding something new.
It's about finally giving the right thing your full attention.
