Our first festival of the season went off with a BANG 💥🔥
It was a 9am Saturday morning session and beforehand I was thinking, “this is EARLY, I bet no one shows up.” 😅
Safe to say I was VERY wrong 🙌

The closing of another adventure.
I came to India to learn more about yoga personally and professionally🧘♀️
At the Sivananda ashram you practice four different paths of yoga:
Discipline - training the body and mind through daily practice (Raja Yoga)
Devotion - chanting, connection to something bigger than yourself (Bhakti Yoga)
Service - small, selfless acts (Karma Yoga)
Inquiry - questioning who you are and what really matters (Jnana Yoga)
Simultaneously brilliant and a battle.
But the lessons come when you are back in the world, things don’t go the way you expect and you really have to surrender.
Stretching is only a small part of being a yogi.
Ultimately it’s about how you show up in the world.
Still learning. Still practicing.
Thank you, India. I’ll be back 🇮🇳

I came to India because I craved authentic yoga and I got it. How blessed to have had Shiven as my teacher!
I braved the Intermediate classes and whilst Shiven’s sessions certainly pushed me, his teaching style is naturally warm and empathic which made it so enjoyable and accessible.
The ways he sings “inhaaaaaaaaaaale” and “exhaaaaaaaaaaale” made surrendering to the postures way more achievable and in every relaxation I was completely gone 😴
Let’s see what I can bring back into my classes 🙏

Happy Earth Day 🌎
It’s been one week of life in the Ashram so far.
A daily schedule starting at 5.20am and running through to lights of at 10.30pm.
Yoga, satsang, meditation, lectures, chanting, silent walks, delicious food and Karma Yoga all following the Sivananda approach.
There’s one day off a week and where you can leave the ashram, the rest of the time we are here and in the practices.
A few more days to go then I’ll report back any insights.
If you’ve got any questions then ask away 🙏
