James is a former Sgt Royal Marine Commando. He served as a trained sniper, and deployed as part of a 6 man sniper team to Afghanistan in 2006. He also assisted in the development of snipers as part of the sniper training team. As his career progressed, James followed his true passion, helping and developing men. He completed the Royal Marine Physical Training instructors course. This consisted of 8 arduous months' training, building the high levels of fitness and standards that were required to serve in this role. James was responsible for the development of all Royal Marine recruits, ensuring they were mentally, emotionally and physically conditioned for war-like conditions. In the last part of James' military career, he specialised in outdoor pursuits and gained high level qualifications in climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, canoeing and leadership. On Friday 23rd September 2011, James left the military to be around his children and wife at the time. This is where he faced his biggest test. Struggling with PTSD, James crumbled in civilian life, facing hardship after hardship, eventually becoming divorced, financially broke and on the brink of taking his own life. After successfully walking away from a suicide attempt, James rebuilt his life to follow his true passion, helping people to be the best version of themselves. He built 3 successful businesses from scratch, optimising the skills he learnt in the military including discipline, time-keeping, maintaining balance, building structure, routines and systems to be successful. Over the 11 years James has rebuilt himself and leads a life he is proud of, a life he lives on his terms. So here’s some advice that I gave to one of my clients when we were in Spain about his marriage and relationship.

I actually think a lot of couples are never their true, authentic selves.

Not all, but quite a lot are never really their true selves. They never really share what they are truly going through.

To have a deep and meaningful relationship, I feel that you have to be able to be vulnerable and expose your most vulnerable side, share your most vulnerable thoughts and emotions.

Me and my wife have had a great relationship, but what’s made it an extraordinary relationship this year has been my therapy journey over the last eight months.

I’ve exposed myself right down to the very deep core layer of my vulnerability, there isn’t any more, she could of seen me more at my lowest

I’ve had to deal with a lot, process a lot, and I cannot believe just how incredible she has been for me along the way.

And I’ll never really find the words to be able to thank her for supporting me so much.

But I’m not sure she has completely and utterly shown me her full vulnerable side.

And here’s why I think that is.

I think she has been so focused on being a support pillar to me that she hasn’t wanted to burden me with her problems.

that’s not how a relationship should work.

If one of you is at 80% and the other one is at 20%, what we try to do is bring up our partner who is at 20%, and vice versa.

But when you’re both at 20%, that’s when you’ve both got to raise your game together as a team.

(In fact our family motto is ā€œteam work makes the dream workā€ I know right 🤢🤣)

That’s when, as a guy, we’ve got to read the room and recognise that actually maybe our wives are going through something and they don’t want to burden us because we’re always busy, because we’ve always got things on our mind.

That’s not having a truly open relationship.

These are a lot of the things I’ve learned just this year alone, and probably have known for longer.

For men, they never really expose what they’re going through.

They just hold it all in and try to carry it all.

it’s incredible that many of them won’t even speak to their best friends to the person who means the most to them, about what they’re going through.

I think until those levels are exposed, you can have a great marriage, but it could be extraordinary.

And that’s the point, right?

Till death do us part.

We grow together, or we drift together

Do you ever ask yourself the question, why are you doing this?

And this could relate to anything.

Why are you working ungodly hours to push a business when you’re never at home to enjoy the rewards?

Why do you keep putting off decisions that you have to make, when you know they’re the ones that you have to take?

Why do you want to achieve a certain level of success?

I’m currently on the way home, nice and early on a Friday, to go and surprise my girls and take them to school.

I was asking myself, why do I do what I do? I’ve asked everyone else that question this week.

I put a couple of messages I received from some of the lads that I work with this week below to show you my why

is it worth being away from home for?

Is it worth all the effort?

And the answer is abso-fu***ng-lutely.

It’s never been about the money.

Of course, there has to be money to pay the bills, but the main driver is about receiving messages like that and the impact it will then have on their own mental health, the enjoyment of their life, and who gets to reap the rewards of that?

Their wife and their kids. This is my why.

It’s to be the guy responsible for helping men become better husbands, better fathers, better men, stronger men, who can be more of a lion than a sheep.

So yeah, it’s fu*king worth the early mornings and showing up consistently.

Have a killer weekend.

There were three main objectives to achieve on this retreat.

Number one was to confront the man that all of these men had been operating as.

It’s a very difficult thing to do. You have to drop the ego, and you have to accept where you are.

The second thing is that you have to kill a version of yourself and leave it behind, for the next identity to then reshape your future.

And the last part was to create a plan of action, a vision of what needed to be achieved by the end of 2027, and then ask yourself the question:

How could this be achieved by mid-2027?

Men have unbelievable potential, and sometimes that potential is subdued by us wasting time, energy and focus by being in the wrong emotional state of mind, by living our lives by a set of beliefs that simply hold us in the same loop.

The purpose of these immersive sessions is to confront that, accept it, and then start the process of building a mission that they believe in to change the situation.

The last four days have been groundbreaking for many of the guys.

Many of them have left behind a version of themselves that they no longer want to tolerate or that no longer serves them, and I can’t wait to see where these lads end up.

If you’re interested in what we do, simply comment the word READY and I’ll send you a video explaining.

Please can you turn this into a next carousel? I’m not looking for AI slop. I’m looking for nicely constructed carousels with a strong opening hook to get people interacted into the carousel.

The sad part is that such a large percentage of men will be too busy firefighting to stop and realise what they are truly capable of.

The thing about these immersive sessions is that you can take a man, take him out of his environment of what he believes needs to be done, break down his belief system that holds him to a standard that is not where he wants to be.

You can put a mirror up to his face and say, ā€œIs that truly everything you’ve got? Are you operating like a sheep? Or can you become the lion that you’re meant to be?ā€

This level of development is not for everybody.

This is not about how big you can build your business, or how much money you make, because truly no one cares and it’s irrelevant to your success. That’s to fuel your ego.

It’s asking yourself, do you actually want a business that’s going to strip you of time, energy and focus away from the people that you love the most and the people you want to show up for?

Do you actually want to build a business or a career that will grind you down to the point where you’re piling on weight, you don’t know if you’re coming or going, and you’ve forgotten why you even started?

That doesn’t sound like success.

Empowering men to make a change has always been the mission & my mission.

In order to do that, you have to evolve your identity that you currently live, which is based on what you think you should be doing based on what others and society believe is right.

Have you even stopped to ask yourself why you do what you do?

Why do you keep working to burnout?

Why do you keep arriving home late from work and missing the kids going to bed?

Why do you keep neglecting your health?

Why do you look at every single problem as a critical problem and not just a part of the business?

The part where you decide that you no longer want to tolerate that identity is the point when you are ready to start elevating yourself.

If you know that you are going to drown in the tsunami that you have built for yourself, then maybe it is time to do something different.

Drop your ego, and open yourself up to a room that helps build you.

On the 23rd of October, we have our next immersive day in London.

We have one guest pass available for someone involved in a six- to eight-figure business who is ready to change the way that they operate.

No egos, no dick swinging, no sales pitches.

We just want to invite somebody who wants to be in a room and knows that something needs to change, where standards need to rise, and that the focus needs to be on more of themselves and their family, not just their business.

If that’s you, then just drop me a message saying 1%, and I will send you the details.

If you have a story about why you won’t do that, you’ll wake up in 10 years and realised you missed the boat, or maybe you won’t

There comes a point where chasing more isn’t the answer.

More success. More money. More recognition. More achievement.

Sometimes the next level is about looking at the life you’ve already built and asking yourself a different question:

Am I actually getting the best out of it?

Your health. Your relationships. Your time. Your purpose. The man you’re becoming.

Because success means very little if you’re constantly too busy, distracted or exhausted to actually enjoy the life you worked so hard to create.

Cocktails šŸø and reflections.

šŸ‘‰šŸ½ What’s the bu****it story I keep telling myself !!!

So day two brought on huge reflections for the guys in terms of: Who is the man that I have been performing under? What statements have I been making? What has success really cost me?

For some, the reflections are much harder than others.
For others this is the start of a new process.

some of the guys who have been with me longer, it’s about evolving the man from the guy they thought they knew.

See, in business, everyone always talks about business strategy, business marketing and KPIs.

But not enough men talk about the man who’s running all of it and carrying all of it.

The man who still has to go home to his wife and his kids, and still has to take care of his body and mind.

I actually think the whole market has got completely misaligned.

You see, everyone is successful and ambitious, and it’s not that we’re trying to subside that. It’s that we’re focusing on the guy instead of the marketing, because the marketing will be better if the man is better.

The sales will be better if the man is better. The revenue will be better if the man is better.

And the business will run much more functionally if the man is healthy and taken care of.

Success at home first.

So in order for us to build 2027, which is what we’re going to be focusing on today, we actually have to understand who we are.

Today, day three will be very much focused on: What is the end goal? What is the end mission of 2027?

How do we reverse-engineer that to start working today on those goals? How do we get prepared for quarter four for next year?

These are big thought processes that we need to have in order to make big moves.

But it’s not all work, there has to be play and decompression from the session, what better way than to enjoy a few cocktails and tapas šŸ˜

Day 1 The Top 1% Retreat Blog

This is the pinnacle of what we do within our coaching programme.

We come away twice a year with members of the Top 1% Club, which is a programme specifically for six- to eight-figure business owners.

The whole point of what we do here is to come away from the daily pressures of life at home and in the business, and be able to immerse yourself around like-minded men who are striving to build the man behind the business.

For a lot of business masterminds, they focus purely on the business. It’s always about marketing, turnover, all the fu***ng boring stuff.

And we don’t focus enough on the man.

How do we build the man?

How does he build his vision?

How does he get closer to living the life that he wants to live?

Where is he going with all of this?

What’s the point in building the business?

How do you become a better husband?

And that’s what we take pride in doing in the Top 1% Club: building the man, and the business will naturally grow.

So the first day is very much about just integration, getting settled into the villa, going out for a few drinks, getting everyone in the right state of mind, getting everyone feeling relaxed before we start the hard work today.

Today is going to be vastly about reflections, about confrontations with the man in the mirror, and about killing the story that’s stopping you from reaching your ultimate life.

Yesterday was a really nice integration, really relaxing, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with the boys today.

If you are looking at this type of venture, we’re running our next Immersive Focus Day on the 23rd of October in London.

We’ve got two guest places available to come and meet the guys, come and meet me, and come and be a part of it.

There’s no sales pitch at the end.

It’s just an opportunity for you to see how you can operate in a different way.

I died overnight.

Not physically.

But when I left the Royal Marines, I lost the identity, purpose and mission that had held me together.

For three years, I survived without really knowing who I was.

And I see ambitious men do the same thing every day.

They build a business.
They become the provider.
They become the leader everyone relies on.

Then, slowly, their identity becomes tied to the revenue, the growth, the career and the business.

When business is winning, they feel good.

When it is not, the stress comes home—and the people closest to them get the worst version of them.

You are not your job title.
You are not your business.
You are not only valuable when you are producing, providing or performing.

Real personal development is building an identity rooted in your values, health, relationships, purpose and the life you want to live—regardless of what is happening in the business.

That is not losing ambition.

That is building a version of success that does not cost you yourself.

Sometimes I still have to pinch myself.

Six years ago, I was getting people to do push-ups in the local rec when I was operating my fitness bootcamp.

Today, we’re off to Barcelona to run a men’s retreat for ten success-driven men as part of our Top 1% Club.

We’re about to lock in 2027 and how we achieve 18 months’ worth of progress in 8 months.

Not by loading more on, but by simply being more effective as a guy.

Being able to do these sorts of events is the pinnacle of what I do.

Just immersive training with guys who are committed to being better and committed to reaching their absolute potential.

I cannot wait to spend the week with the guys and push them to their limits.

Let’s set to work
