Our association AGM will be held on Wednesday 1st July in Antrim Sports Club

Dear Members

We have been approached by Snooker 900 to run a series of events (around 4) next season to obtain a ranking list of players in the 900 format in NIBSA

The aim to achieve a top 8 players for a final event, the winner of which will play against the corresponding winner of a parallel series in SBI to play in Goffs next year at the John Virgo trophy with €1000 prize for the winner

Full details will be discussed at our AGM in July but I’d like to get a feel of our members opinions prior to the meeting to gather any interest.

Due to the weather yesterday the course was closed so we have decided to postpone the annual golf day until the 2nd July

Hopefully everyone can make it as we had good interest in the event.

NOTE, This day is open to everyone, you don’t need to be a NIBSA member. Bring along your friends or anyone, open to all abilities as handicaps will be applied.
Prizes will be on offer on the day also.

Patrick Wallace v Joel Connolly

The two finalists face off tomorrow in Antrim Sports Club both hunting for glory in polar opposites of the respective careers.

Patrick Wallace is no stranger to the final stages of this event by any means. Having already lifted the trophy 9 times, the first time in 1993, (14 years before Joel was born) and most recently last year, the Dungannon man is in search of number 10!
The thought of it alone is mind blowing. To be playing at this level still today is unbelievable but it’s no surprise to people that know Patrick and how much he dedicates himself to the game. An illustrious career both as a Professional and a local Amateur, Patrick will be giving everything he has in his arsenal tomorrow to secure yet another win.

His Opponent, at only 18 years old is hoping to win his first NI Championship trophy. Joel may be lacking in the experience side of things compared to Patrick but he is no stranger to ranking finals recently. Having won his first ranking event final last year, The Drumaness Masters actually against Patrick he won’t have any fears going into this match. Joel has had a great 2025-26 season winning event 5 in Ards and runner up in Blackstaff, the run to this final has secured enough ranking points regardless of tomorrows result to secure Number 1 ranked player for the season. An amazing achievement for the young lad this season who is also just back from two greats runs in QSchool trying to secure a Professional tour card. Winning tomorrow would be the icing on the seasons cake for Joel who has matured as a person off the table and as a player on the table. He has shown he is more than capable of lifting the trophy tomorrow with dominant displays this season, he won’t shy away from any finish lines.

Who wins tomorrow?
Only time will tell, both players have reached the final hitting 3 century breaks between them on the way along with many 70, 80 & 90 breaks one thing we can guarantee is that there will some fantastic snooker played.
Will Joel’s fearless approach and growing ability be enough? Will Patrick have too much experience and skill to hold him off? We will find out tomorrow, 12 noon in Antrim sports club.

Hughes and Wallace qualify for semis

Declan Hughes and Patrick Wallace have qualified for the first semi final of the Northern Ireland Championships, sponsored by That Prize Guy. Hughes came through 5-3 against Shea Moore, whilst Wallace won 5-2 against Ryan McQuillan. The semi final will begin at 3pm and you can follow live using the link below
