Derriaghy 2016 Colts vs TW Braga

The first half was particularly impressive, as the team settled quickly and played some excellent football. We started the second half well too, but following a penalty decision, the momentum shifted in Braga’s favour and we struggled to regain control of the game.

Coby was awarded Man of the Match after an outstanding performance, scoring all four of our goals. He was excellent throughout and thoroughly deserved the recognition. 👌🏻

Overall, it was a very encouraging start to the league. The boys have only trained together a handful of times, so to see the level of performance, teamwork and progress on display was extremely pleasing.

There is plenty more to come from this group, and we look forward to building on today’s performance as the season progresses ⚽️💙

There were several key positives to take from today’s performance:

🔷 Listening
🔷 Applying the lessons from training

All of these were excellent today, and that is the level of football we know these boys are capable of producing.

The attitude shown throughout the game was fantastic. We never let our heads drop, and the boys remained focused and disciplined throughout.

It was genuinely great to simply sit back and watch them play, work together and put into practice what they have been learning in training. Hopefully, there is plenty more to come from this fantastic little team. 💙

🏆 Man of the Match – Ollie

A well-deserved Man of the Match award for Ollie following his four goals and excellent work rate. Most importantly, he maintained a fantastic attitude throughout the game and set a great example on the pitch.

💙🏆 Charity Cup 🏆💙

Our 2016 Juniors took part in the Charity Cup this weekend, which was held over two days.

On Day 1, the boys played five games, winning two and finishing 4th in their group to secure their place in Day 2.

Unfortunately, today brought just the one game, as they came up against a strong Banbridge side and were knocked out of the competition.

A huge well done to all the players and coaches for their efforts and commitment throughout the weekend. 👏⚽

A special congratulations to Jamie, who was named the Coaches’ Player of the Weekend! 🏆👏

⚽️💙 Pre Season Round Up 💙⚽️

Pre-season has come to an end for our Academy teams as they now look ahead to the new league season, which gets underway next weekend.

Friday night saw our 2016 Colts take on Crumlin United in what proved to be another very good performance. There was plenty of good football and goals on display, with Dominik picking up Player of the Match. Well done, Dominik! 👏

Saturday morning saw our 2014/15s in action against Ballynahinch. It was a good, competitive game, with Ballynahinch eventually running out 5–2 winners.

Overall, it has been a positive pre-season for the squad, playing four games with two wins, one draw and one loss.

Our 2016 Juniors also took part in the Charity Cup and have progressed to Day 2, which takes place today.
