It’s race week and the final race week for The Kart Championship 2026. We are heading to Whilton Mill Karting & Outdoor Activities for the last round of the CKC.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING IN KARTING ISN’T THE KART!

It’s time.

You don’t realize it at first.

You think you’re buying a kart.

Then you buy boots.

Then a helmet.

Then a suit.

Then tires.

So many spares!

Then race entries.

Then a motorhome!

And trailer.

Then you realize you haven’t had a normal weekend in three years.

You miss birthdays.

You miss parties.

You skip holidays.

You spend Friday nights loading a trailer while everybody else is out for dinner.

You wake up before daylight and drive six hours so your kid can get sixty minutes of track time.

And eventually somebody asks you:

“Is it worth it?”

That’s actually a hard question.

Because if you add it all up…

No.

It doesn’t make sense.

But here’s the part nobody understands.

You’re not really paying for the race.

You’re paying for the mornings your kid gets up before you do because he’s excited.

You’re paying for the friendships he’ll remember when he’s 30.

You’re paying for the confidence he carries into a room because he learned how to lose without quitting.

You’re paying for the never ending conversations about the set up, the racing lines, the battles.

You’re paying for memories that don’t come with a receipt.

And someday…

The kart will be gone.

The helmet will be in the back of a wardrobe.

The trophies boxed up in the loft.

And that kid who used to yell,

“DAD! WATCH THIS!”

will be grown.

That’s when you’ll realize what you were actually buying all those years.

Not a kart.

Time.

And you never get that s**t back.

Race Weekend Recap 🏁

A mixed but brilliant weekend at the British Kart Championship.

Saturday:
Qualifying: P2 & P1
Heat 1: P2 → P5
Heat 2: P1 → P19
Final: DNF — broken throttle cable

Starting on the front row for both heats showed the pace was there, but unfortunately a throttle cable failure ended Saturday’s final.

Sunday:
Qualifying: P11 & P12
Heat 1: P11 → P9
Heat 2: P12 → P13
Final: P9 → P13

Qualifying on the front row and leading a British champship race is a massive achievement for Ali and us as a privateer dad and lad team as it shows the hard work we put into this sport. Next British champs is the last round coming from the famous Silverstone circuit. 💪🏁

UKKS Round 5. A scorcher of a weekend with some great racing.

Ali drove amazing and is finding his spark again after a run of bad luck at past events. With a very tight packed front 5 racing was close on Sunday.
