Nobody in here cares.

Nobody in here cares where you started.

Nobody in here is judging how unfit you are. Or how much weight you want to lose. Or how long it’s been since you last exercised.

The hardest part isn’t the workout.

It’s walking through the doors for the first time.

The people you’re worried are going to judge you?

They remember exactly what their first day felt like. The ones who stood outside and were encouraged in. Still there 2 years later.

Everyone here was once a beginner too.

So the moment you walk through the doors, you’ve already elevated your status.

Not because you lifted something. Or because of what you look like.

But because you had the courage to start.

Courage isn’t acting without fear. It’s acting in spite of it.

The moment you walk through our doors… you already gained our respect.

Everything after that, we build together.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.

I know Amy Bartholomew doesn’t really like the “before” photo. Most people don’t like their before. That’s the point. Most people only see where Amy is today. It’s not really a before and after. It’s different reference points on a journey.

And regardless of whether you or I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong someone’s before… it’s not up to us what someone’s goals or ambitions are 👊🏼

If that woman who came to VF in March 2023 listened to people back then, or over the last few years, when they said “you’re fine how you are”

… she wouldn’t know what she knows she’s capable of and what is still possible 🗝️

That’s what you stop people from doing when you say things like “there’s nothing wrong with you.”

You stop someone’s journey to finding out more about who they are and what they can do. You make them settle because you’ve settled.

I always ask clients “what do YOU want and why?”

Amy is just another example of someone who trusts a process and actions 5 pieces of advice.

Yes. 5 pieces of advice.

In this case it was: train 3-4 times per week; check-in fortnightly; record your numbers; eat 80% good food; say no to things that don’t align with your goals. Then repeat consistently more than not.

5️⃣ guidelines. Repeat. That was it.

Most people slow down when they hit 40. Amy built an athlete.

After completing her first marathon in Belfast in May and blitzing her time goal, when her food volume was high, and she was running 50km weeks, she only had 6 weeks “prep” for her photoshoot because we now switch back to athletic performance.

Her goal for the photos: bring an athletic physique, not a bodybuilder’s one.

To showcase an athlete who:

☑️ Runs a 21 minute 5k

☑️ Deadlifts & Squats 2+ times her bodyweight

☑️ Breezes a solo Hyrox

☑️ Can’t remember the last time she was unwell
