AFC Llwydcoed Ladies begin the 2026/27 season on Sunday 6th September against Rogerstone.

Looking forward to getting the new campaign underway after a busy pre-season. 🖤🤍

⚽ FULL TIME | Llwydcoed AFC Ladies 0–1 Abertillery Belles

A really competitive game against a strong Abertillery side who play a division above us, with both teams playing some excellent football and putting together some great one-two passing moves.

Llwydcoed enjoyed the majority of the possession, but Abertillery’s goalkeeper had an excellent game as a sweeper keeper, reading the danger well and getting to anything played in behind before we could capitalise.

The difference on the day was a superb Abertillery free kick from the edge of the box – a quality finish that gave them the lead.

From around the 60-minute mark, Llwydcoed really started to find another gear. We switched the play well, found some great through balls and created plenty of opportunities, but couldn’t quite find that finishing touch. We also delivered some dangerous free kicks into the area but just needed someone on the end of them.

One of the closest moments came from Charlie, who spotted the goalkeeper off her line and went for goal from around the halfway line, narrowly missing with a brilliant effort! 👏⚽

Plenty of positives to take from the performance. We’re still a group learning to play together, with players being used in different positions and a few missing tonight, so to compete so well against a team from the division above was really encouraging.

The result didn’t quite go our way, but another valuable 90 minutes in the legs and plenty to build on. 🖤🤍

A brilliant performance from Charlie, whose footwork was excellent throughout the game. She gave 100% from start to finish, constantly working hard to track back and help defensively while also getting forward to support our attacks.

Her movement and awareness were excellent, covering space across the pitch and always looking to make herself available. A tireless performance and thoroughly deserved Player of the Match! 👏⚽️🖤🤍

⚽ FULL TIME | Talgarth Town 6–3 AFC Llwydcoed Ladies

A really competitive pre-season fixture against a strong Talgarth Town side who play a division above us and gave us a great test throughout.

The 6–3 scoreline perhaps doesn’t tell the full story of the game. We battled well throughout and created plenty of opportunities, with two goals ruled out for offside, while a couple of close offside calls went the other way at the opposite end. On another day, the scoreline could have looked very different.

But that’s exactly what pre-season is for. We were able to try players in different positions, get valuable minutes into everyone’s legs and continue working on different combinations ahead of the new season.

Plenty of positives to take against good opposition and another valuable step forward in our preparations.

A fully deserved Player of the Match performance from Megan against Talgarth! 👏⚽

Megan brought incredible energy for the full 90 minutes, working tirelessly to compete for first and second balls and constantly providing a threat going forward. Her work rate didn’t stop there either, always tracking back and putting in the hard yards to help out defensively.

A brilliant all-round performance, topped off with a goal and an assist. 🔥

Our first home game friendly, due to our pitch having work done we will be at mikes field. Come and support the girls as Llantwit are 2 leagues above us so will be a challenging game but the girls will give it their everything 🖤🤍

⚽ FULL TIME | 6–0

A scoreline that doesn’t quite reflect the performance today, particularly against a strong Undy side who play two leagues above us. At 1–0 at half-time, we were very much still in the game and created 5 or 6 good chances of our own.

Unfortunately, a 15-minute spell in the second half where we lost concentration proved costly, with four goals conceded in quick succession.

Plenty of positives to take from the overall performance despite the result, especially against higher-league opposition, and lots to build on moving forward. 💪
