Backstage with one of the biggest bands in the world Five Finger Death Punch .

From sharing the mats with Zoltan Bathory | Judo For Jiu-Jitsu , learning and competing with his support, to walking him onstage in a packed stadium while FFDP toured with Metallica … these are experiences I’ll never forget.

Being Backstage and seeing the level of work that goes into a Five Finger Death Punch show was unreal. Huge respect to the entire crew.

Thank you Zoltan for bringing me into your world, and shoutout to Chris Kael , Official Andy James , Aimee Lee Lankford , Chris Kurtz , my brother from Penn State University , and everyone else I met backstage. 🤘

On This Day in 2012…

What an unforgettable moment in our history.

Our team was proud to have Ryan Jimmo make his UFC debut at UFC 149 in Calgary, alongside teammate Mitch Clarke and many of Canada’s top MMA athletes.

Ryan made history with an incredible 7-second knockout, tying the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history at the time. It was an unforgettable night for our team.

I had the privilege of cornering Ryan that night, making it a memory I’ll never forget. Hayabusa Fightwear was one of Ryan’s sponsors, representing our team on one of the biggest stages in the sport.

Looking back, these were some of the formative years of our academy. Hayabusa was one of the pioneers of MMA in the Edmonton region, helping grow the sport and develop athletes long before it became mainstream.

With the UFC returning to Edmonton, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how far the sport has come and the incredible journey we’ve been fortunate to be part of.

Although not everyone from those days is still with us, we’ll always cherish the memories, friendships, and impact they had on our team.

As we approach 20 years of serving the St. Albert community, we’re grateful to everyone who has trained with us, coached with us, and supported us along the way.
