Glasgow 2026: Jasmine Daunakamakama Creates History, Guarantees Fiji’s First Medal Jasmine Daunakamakama has made history at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Team Fiji athlete to guarantee a medal and the first Fijian woman to secure a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games.

The Fiji Taekwondo Association extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Aseri Masivou Radrodro, Minister for Education, and the Ministry of Education for their valued support of the President's Cup 2026 – 15th Edition of the Fiji National Championships.

We were honoured to have the Honourable Minister officially declare the championship open and deliver an inspiring address, highlighting the important role taekwondo plays in developing discipline, resilience, leadership, teamwork, integrity, and respect in our young people. His presence reaffirmed the value of sport in shaping future leaders, and we were privileged to have him present the medals to our Senior Women's Low Weight Division medallists, making their achievements even more memorable.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Special Guest, Mr. Bimal Sudhakar, Chief Operating Officer of the Fiji Development Bank, for joining us in celebrating our athletes and the taekwondo community. A passionate advocate for healthy living, personal development, and work-life balance, Mr. Sudhakar continues to inspire many through his journey as a CrossFit athlete, marathon runner, powerlifter, bodybuilder, Spartan racer, hiker, and adventure enthusiast. His message encouraged our athletes to embrace challenges, strive for excellence, and recognise that true success is built through resilience, discipline, and continuous self-improvement. We are grateful for the inspiration he shared with everyone in attendance.

The Fiji Taekwondo Association also thanks the Ministry of Education for recognising the dedication of our athletes, coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, parents, guardians, and sponsors who continue to grow taekwondo throughout Fiji.
