Missing our Fiji fam!

I (Bryce) am devastated to confirm that my little brother, Callun was killed this week in a motor accident.

Callun's death is a real shock and a great loss to everyone around him.

Callun's wife Karen is pregnant and due in a month or so and they have three kids (ages 13, 6, 5 and one in utero).

There is a Gofundme page that Karen's sister set up to support Callun's family called 'Please support the Winter family'.

The web page is https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-support-the-winter-family if you care to donate.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Callun's life will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday 6th November, 2019 at All Saints Anglican Church, 501 Hamilton Road Chermside.

Everybody is welcome.

Well it's official.

This beautiful girl is no longer ours! We made so many wonderful memories with her and learned so much about her, the world and ourselves. Batty's new owner's seem great and we are thrilled that they are keeping her name!
✨
On to the next adventure!

One of our favorite things about Fiji is the abundance of fresh tropical fruit and vegetables available.
-
Here we have eggplant, capsicum (peppers), limes, cucumber and wax apples (thank you Google). We aren't actually sure what the wax apples are called here because we found them at the market once and then never again! They taste like a mix between unripened pear, guava and cucumber!

πŸ‚πŸHappy Thanksgiving! 🍁 πŸ‚
-
This is probably about as Thanksgivingy as we are going to get overhere! Since we aren't from the US, growing up, Thanksgiving, in the traditional sense, was never a huge thing for us, unless we were invited to someone's home. Instead it was welcome days off, a chance to celebrate birthdays that fall around this time, and an opportunity to be thankful - which we can always use more of!
-
Have a wonderful day however you are celebrating and be thankful!

Normally when you fly into a new place, that birds eye view you get helps you to gain some perspective of the layout of the city below. We arrived in Suva late at night so missed out on that. We went out first thing the next morning to try and get the lay of the land. This building will always be my first glimpse of Suva and honestly it's not really what I was expecting to see. We haven't explored it yet (Google says it's a post office) but it's on our adventure list!

Dad's home! We've been so lucky that in the three weeks we've been here, there's been one public holiday each week! We've celebrated Diwali, Election day and today, the prophet Mohammed's birthday. But that's it. It's back to work and no more until Christmas! πŸŽ„

We've got eyes on our girl on her journey south. Thanks Inter Alia for the photo!

Before moving to Fiji, this was our island home! Magnetic Island! We love it there so much!
🏝
This is about the time we would've started heading back north from the Whitsundays to Maggie but instead Batty is heading south to get out of cyclone territory!πŸŒͺ

We are having so much fun exploring Suva.
✨
I'm still figuring out the best way to do it with a baby and toddler in tow. πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘§

πŸš•Taxis are plentiful and cheap but not super child safety friendly.
πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈThe sidewalks of Suva are not super stroller friendly - they just end, not always ramps to cross the road, traffic is insane sometimes and lots of hills.
🚎I haven't been game enough to try the bus yet but it is always an option.
🐨Our first day out, I tried wearing both girls, letting I. Walk as she pleased. This was great but this Mama was exhausted at the end of the day.
🐴What we currently do is I am a packmule. I wear the baby and carry our bags (which inevitably accumulate, especially when we go to the market - do we really need 4 hands of bananas? Yes!) and carry I. when she wants and hope it doesn't rain because I don't have a spare hand for an umbrella!
✨
Its a work in progress!
