Last night I gave a another Qi Xing Tang Lang Lang class at Centro Formativo Multidisciplinario de Artes Marciales to the Arthenea and Slavyanskiye Voiny crews.

This time with basic conditioning and some take-down applications typical to my style's lineage. As learned from Tang Lang Men Polska and Tanglang Quan She.

To my joy, some of the students of the Arthenea are also interested in the Chinese martial arts. I taught them a sequence of the Qi Xing Tang Lang Quan pudao form because it can be applied with the western pollaxe more of less the same way. We also used pollaxes for the practice as it is close enough - pudao should be approximately the same size but with a heavy duty cutting blade instead of a bonk-poke-slash multitool.

Yesterday I gave a short class to the Arthenea cree at Centro Formativo Multidisciplinario de Artes Marciales that continued the basic framework of exchanging strikes that I introduced in the previous training session.

In this one we worked with the same framework but with the addition of more complex plays embedded to it, and furthermore, how they can be combined together to a flow of plays. It should be noted that this is just an exercise and is not meant to represent the actual freeplay, although it can look like this. The most important aspect of the exercise is, however, to demonstrate how the different guards can be used to control the tactical aspects of the exchanges.

The examples used were from dall'Agocchie's Varying Guards as they will be featured in
The Foundations of Bolognese Fencing
Volume II book that is already in the works.

It's an Entrepreneur's Day in Finland. I think this might be my sixth year being a full-time martial arts instructor - something I never really planned to be. I'm still happy to be on this path even though it's been a bumpy ride so far. At the best times it feels like I'm contributing something meaningful and have the privilege to work and meet with excellent people signed the world.

With that, another few two clips from the basic framework session I gave to the Arthenea crew at Centro Formativo Multidisciplinario de Artes Marciales during this trip to Mexico.

In the first one w are were discussing the exercise of reacting to the opponent's first action, that is the provocation, and in the next one going through the fundamental theory of the use of the guards outside the blade contact.

An excerpt from the class I gave to the students of Arthenea at Centro Formativo Multidisciplinario de Artes Marciales. The class was about the basics of the sidesword and how to work them in a simple framework that can be expanded to more complex actions. In this one we are discussing the use of tempo within the restrictions of the exercise.

This class presented a part of the same framework that I introduce in the upcoming book The Foundations of Bolognese Fencing

Historical Fencing Beginner Seminars in Tampere – 20.9.2026 & 27.9.2026!

These seminars are aimed at anyone interested in learning the basics of the Bolognese fencing system, as well as those who wish to join the Tampere School of Arms community and our weekly training sessions.

The two seminars replace the Tampere School of Arms beginner course this autumn and provide the essential foundations required to join our regular club training.

The purpose is not simply to learn a series of techniques, but to learn the fundamental principles of the system and begin developing functional fencing skills through sword and buckler.
