# **Sabbath School Lesson Commentary 8 — Faith**

**Prayer is faith.** But what is faith, really? Faith must be felt — not only reasoned. How can I have more faith in my life, believing today that I need it?
There are many questions about faith, and often our concept of faith is mistaken. Throughout this week, through the Word of God, we will find answers that help us understand biblically what faith is, how it is obtained, and what its purpose is in the Christian life.

Now, let’s go to our study of God’s Word — and for that, let’s pray.
**Opening Prayer**
Dear God and Father in heaven, thank You because through prayer and Your Word we can have this relationship with You — a moment of learning where Your Word is placed in our minds. May this week’s study on faith be well understood, especially by those going through difficult times, uncertainty, sadness, or silence. May this topic bring peace to their hearts. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
**Sunday — “Just Give Me a Sign”**
The topic for Sunday’s lesson is *“Just Give Me a Sign.”* How many times have we used that expression in conversation with God, asking Him for a sign? Is it wrong to ask God for signs? Let’s see what the Word of God says.
The lesson invites us to read **Mark 8:11–12**, but I’d like us to go to **Matthew 16**, which tells the same story with a slightly different focus and, to me, more depth.
Matthew 16:1 says:
“The Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus and asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.”
So the Pharisees came asking for a sign. Is it wrong to ask for signs? The answer is **no** — it’s not wrong. But the question is: how many signs had the Pharisees already seen? Jesus had healed the sick, raised the dead, given sight to the blind, and made the lame walk. They had seen many — t
