Instructor trainer. Technical diver. Years in the water.

And still, every time I gear up for something new, that same excitement comes back 🤩
the one you get before your very first dive.

Learning in this sport never really ends.
That’s what keeps it worth doing💪🏻

How do I become a Dive Instructor?

It’s one of the questions I get asked the most.

Swipe through to see every step, from your first Open Water certification to becoming a Dive Instructor.

Now tell me... Where are you on your journey? 👇

55 meters down at Thomas Canyon.

Ever wonder how it looks from here? It starts inside ,squeezed through rock, walls close, light fading. Then it opens up.

This is the view most divers never see.

Technical diving isn’t about going deep. It’s about being ready for what’s down there.

📸 Been this deep? Tag us or drop your photo from 55m+ in the comments ,let’s see it.

Had a great week of CCRing with a great knowledgeable Instructor Trainer Andy Auckland with lots of fun, knowledge, tips&tricks, silent diving 😉 and fish . Thanks a lot buddy and can't wait to MOD 2 Mixed Gas JJ CCR .
Thanks for my JJ-CCR buddy Mahmoud M. Salem for joining my last 2 days of training and calibration of my graduation. Don't blow bubbles and keep it silent 😉

You didn’t get this far to stop here.

Every certification you’ve earned was a step. Open Water. Advanced. Rescue. Divemaster. Each one built the diver you are today.

This is the next one.

The instructor rating isn’t the finish line
it’s where the real work, and the real reward, begins. Where you stop being guided and start guiding others.

All the time, I watch new divers walk into the water carrying more fear than gear. 🤿

These same things repeat with almost every beginner and knowing them ahead of time is what turns a stressful first dive into one you actually enjoy.
Swipe through 5 of them.

Which one hits home for you?

Your win card is understanding ,not memorizing.

Don’t just rely on your dive computer. Understand your gas mix, your decompression theory, your deco stops everything.

A dive computer can fail. Your technical diving knowledge can’t.
Because when the numbers disappear, all you have left is what you actually understood about decompression, gas management, and dive planning.

Your sidemount gear feels loose. Not comfortable. Not right.

Let me tell you one of my favorite tips.
Gear must fit YOUR body measurements.
Not the opposite.
The best sidemount setup is built around each diver’s own body.
There’s no fixed adjustment that works for everyone.
Get it wrong, and your tanks won’t sit balanced.
No trim. No comfort.
Sidemount diving is one of my favorite disciplines.
It gives you freedom, control, and clean lines underwater.

So don’t make it complicated. It’s simple.
You just need to adjust it right.

One of the questions I get asked most by divemasters:

“What should I do until my IDC?”

My answer is always the same ,master your skills.

Because in the IDC, you’re not just diving anymore. You’re learning how to teach what you already know.

So dive more. Refine every skill. Make it automatic.

Then come ready to teach it.
