Empowering Back Health with the Barmer Health App

One of the greatest confirmations of our design performance is when one successful project leads to another. This was evident Chen Barmer, one of Germany’s leading health insurance companies, included the innovative back measuring device „Tricuro Go“, originally designed by us for Startup Kentago, into their comprehensive back care program. Subsequently, we were entrusted by Kentago with the design of the Barmer Health App, a dynamic tool that facilitates user-friendly access to personalized health exercises through an exclusive code card. The use of individualized codes ensures privacy, fostering trust among employees and encouraging active participation in maintaining their back health. This, in turn, contributes to heightened job satisfaction, increased productivity, and a notable reduction in medical claims.

During our recent fair visit, we observed substantial crowds. Given the current surge in COVID-19 cases, we couldn't help but think of our visitor traffic light LUMERG, initially designed for shop access control. It occurred to us that employing a similar system could potentially regulate and balance visitor attendance at entrances of larger events, contributing to a safer environment. LUMERG is a robust visitor counter that combines physical sensors with a user-friendly app. You can find more information about this project via our website:

At neongrey we derive satisfaction from crafting solutions that not only meet functional requirements but also enrich the user's journey, such as kiNPen VET from Neoplas, a plasma treatment device for wound healing.

One of the most satisfying opportunities as a designer is to work on products that improve people‘s lives, such as this hearing aid for HANSATON that helps to destigmatize hearing loss.

Last week, the first of our three installations was installed in Oldenburg's city center. Funded by the European Union and the state of Lower Saxony we were commissioned by the city of Oldenburg to design artistic installations for „Häusings“ (eaves between two houses that were built in Oldenburg's city center in the 17th century for fire protection and drainage). Amongst other creatives from the cre8 oldenburg group we let the crevices and hidden house entrances appear in a new light. Here you can see a section of our installation with a parametrically generated pattern. Stay tuned - we'll show you more in the next few weeks!
