Meet the newest member of our international trainer community: Natalya from Norway! 🇳🇴❄️ There’s probably no better place to have a Nordic cold plunge expert on board — when it comes to cold, Norway definitely knows what it’s doing. We’re very happy to have a northern light join our community! ✨
After experiencing severe burnout in her first academic position, cold-water exposure was one of the key therapeutic methods that helped Natalya come back to life. This inspired and motivated her to learn more, get certified, guide and share with others the benefits of cold water exposure.
Starting soon, Natalya will be offering sessions in Norway (Oslo and gradually other cities). Her focus is on empowering, attentive facilitation, building confidence, and popularizing cold water swimming, especially for women. Her focus is on building capability through consistency and repetition. She will be exploring and sharing more benefits for mental health and cold water therapy in natural and wild waters from scientific studies.
Follow Natalya's new Instagram account for more. And join the community in Oslo on Meet-up: https://www.meetup.com/cold-wild-water-enthusiasts-oslo/

🔥 +40°C outside. 🥶 +6.3°C inside.
That’s a massive 33.7°C gap!
As tempting as it is to dive straight into the ice during this heatwave, doing it wrong can be incredibly dangerous.
This extreme contrast triggers an immediate cold shock response — your blood pressure spikes, your heart rate surges, and your body forces an involuntary gasp reflex.
This is exactly how summer swimming accidents happen, and a cold plunge is even more extreme. If you're using the ice to beat the heat today, stay safe with these rules:
🛑 COOL DOWN FIRST.
Never go from direct sun straight into the ice.
🚶♂️ WALK IN SLOWLY.
Absolutely no jumping or diving.
🗣️ EXHALE COLD SHOCK.
Focus on a long, slow exhale as you enter to control the gasp reflex.
⏱️ KEEP IT SHORT.
Your body is working double-time. 1-2 minutes is plenty.
Respect the water, control your breath, and stay safe out there! 🧊

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Stefanie Ochs on successfully completing the Chief Ice Officer training! ❄️👏
Based in Saalfelden, Salzburg (Austria), Stefanie discovered cold exposure through trail running and the mountains. What initially started as a recovery method evolved into something much deeper: a ritual for calmness, clarity, and trust in the body.
Her favorite place for ice bathing? Natural mountain lakes surrounded by the beauty of the Alps. 🏔️💧
Now, Stefanie is ready to share this powerful connection between cold, nature, and body awareness with others through her coaching and training sessions across the Salzburg region.
Follow Stefanie’s journey:
Congratulations on this amazing achievement, Stefanie — welcome to the CIO family! 💙
