Football is Beautiful, Everywhere.

The biggest football tournament takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden every summer and is called the Gothia Cup.

1,964 teams from 77 nations will compete for the title of best youth team in their age category, in front of thousands of spectators, when the competition kicks off this Monday, 51 years after its first edition in 1975.

Through the years, iconic names such as Andrea Pirlo, Mikel Arteta, Xabi Alonso, Alan Shearer, Caroline Seger and Hanna Ljungberg have competed at the tournament, just to name a few.

Some of the teams we featured in our previous magazines, like West Coast United from Ireland, regularly compete in the competition and will be present at the 2026 edition too.

Just a kid with their ball, playing until the sun sets, just because it’s the best thing they know. Long before anyone profits off this sport, we fall in love with it. In the street, on the beach, in the park with jumpers for goalposts.

Nobody teaches you to love football, you just do.

We all forget our problems when we step on the grass, you know that feeling, we know you do.

Then it grows up. It gets sold. It gets rigged, refereed by politics instead of the rulebook, run by people who've never once played for the pure joy of it. But they don't own the game. They never will.

We do. The fans in the stands, the kids playing in the stress, the volunteers who show up for their club for years, day in and day out.

Football is for the people. It always was. Everything else is just noise trying to convince us otherwise.
