We teach Pilates and we're here to support you in feeling strong, capable, and happy in your body We offer weekly live online group classes to anyone in Canada.

Our little studio is made up of two Pilates teachers who are passionate about empowering bodies through exercise that is easy to access, encouraging, and effective. We do our best to nurture a "body neutral" environment in all our classes and on social media. We care more about how you feel rather than how you look, and we want you to leave our classes feeling strong and ready for anything! Our gr

Whitehorse studio friends!

We would love to have a volunteer or two who would be willing to be a demonstration body for a pre-recorded reformer workout or two for our studio video library.

As a teacher, I feel like I would do a better job focussing on teaching the body in front of me versus trying to do the exercises myself while also talking 😆

More and more of our clients are getting their own home reformers and they’re looking to be able to practice on their own at home and so we would love to be able to support people with their reformer homework by having some instructional foundational to intermediate level workouts that can be done on your own.

If that’s something that you might be interested in helping us out with, please get in touch! We would be stoked to have your support. 🌿☀️

Curious about the what the deal is with the Pilates springs?

The spring wall can be a fantastic and supportive place to work on really useful movement skills in a controlled, intentional way. We incorporate the springs into our comprehensive Alpine Studio Method group classes 🌱

If you’re new to our studio and you’d like to try the springs, there are currently spaces in newcomer-friendly Alpine classes for Sept/Oct ☀️

That’s a wrap on this round of puppy Pilates classes with the adorable Samoyed babies from Manuka Samoyeds litter 🤍🐾💤

Thank you SO much to everyone who came!! Thanks to your donations, we’ve raised over $600 for PADS Dogs 🤍🤍🤍🤍

These classes have been more chaotic than any of our regular classes but also SO FUN. Our usual group classes don’t typically have so much p*e and 💩 and people’s ponytails getting chomped 😆😆😆

We’d be happy to host more classes like this in the future, so if you’re a local animal rescue or an ethical CKC breeder with puppies who would like to be socialized, get in touch 😎

If you’re currently registered in one of our group classes, your email invitation to renew your registration for Sept/Oct just went out 💌 If your inbox hates our newsletters, no worries — you can just use the booking page on our site.

Registration opens to the public on Sunday ☀️

Shout out to the fabulous Clara Pilates (married to Joe and his co-teacher and studio-runner) for rocking dresses to teach her students ✨🔥

Lessons:
- Wear what you want to work — whatever makes you feel like your best self and the vibes you’re going for (Clara liked to feel professional and incorporate more of a nursing/health care vibe to her teaching)

- You don’t NEED to wear leggings to teach Pilates if you don’t want to; good teachers don’t need to have a specific look

- Clara was an EXCELLENT and well-loved teacher, and she obviously didn’t spend the whole workout teaching her students by doing the movements and having them copy her. A teacher’s job is to TEACH, not get their own performative workout in 😆

Any other lessons or extrapolations I’ve missed?

It’s hot outside but still nice and cool in the studio 🖤☀️ (it’s a great time to have concrete floors)

Date: Monday, August 10

The name “Puppy Pilates” is more about the fun of alliteration and less to do with Pilates focus 😆 We’ll definitely include some Pilates principles but this will be more like our Kind Movement classes, and you don’t need any Pilates experience to join us.

All the proceeds from this class are going to PADS Dogs — Pacific Assistance Dogs Society. They help people in needs through the support of assistance dogs with things like mobility, hearing, and PTSD support 🖤🐾

Booking is available through our website or through this link: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/e5a9e4d4/?appointmentTypeIds[]=96627534

When it comes to health and wellness, rest is not the opposite or antithesis of movement or exercise — they’re a complementary partnership and we will feel our best when we find our body’s balance between the two. 🤝⚖️🧘🏿‍♂️

Rest is necessary for recovery, rejuvenation, repair, grounding, digestion, processing and more. Sleep in particular is absolutely vital for our bodies and brains to function optimally — and even if you think you’re thriving on minimal sleep, your body doesn’t actually agree (promise 😆) Sleep is the time when your body refreshes and repairs itself, and you want to give it adequate time to do its deep cleaning reset. 🧼🛀🌱😌

Conversely, in order to feel restful and to have a good sleep, our bodies appreciate movement and using our energy and muscles positively during our waking hours. Only “resting” (or moving very little) for too long can make us feel gross too.

In a world and culture that can be obsessed with DOING and accomplishment, firmly making time to prioritize rest can feel wrong or even embarrassing or self-indulgent, but let’s do our best to change that unhelpful and inaccurate narrative. If you’re only approaching your health with the goal of adding more workouts and forcing exercise into already packed and busy days, but you’re not equally prioritizing rest, then your wellness will be limited, and you could risk burnout, injury, or physical or mental illness.

Are you making time for movement AND rest this weekend?
